"It's nighttime where the host lives" message

I'm seeing in some of the threads that people were able to set up an "it's nighttime where the host lives" message.  Is that still a feature?  My property is in a totally different time zone and I'd like something to go out to let the guest know that I might be sleeping.  I typically still respond, but in the event that the beep doesn't wake me up, I would still like them to know that I'm not purposely ignoring them.

Hello @Kristina729 ,

this is the automatic notification that guests receive depending on your property's time zone.

If it is nighttime at your property's location, guests will receive this message automatically.

Unfortunately, there is no setting to specify a specific time when you won't be able to respond to guests (so you have 24 hours to respond).

But I think it would be helpful if hosts could specify a time when they are unavailable (if they actually live in a different time zone than the property). I can recommend you to share your feedback  about this question using feedback form: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/help/feedback so that the specialists can look into this issue.

Kind regards.

Elena.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.  I appreciate it.

Hi Kristina,

Yes, setting up an "it's nighttime where the host lives" message is a great feature for managing guest expectations, especially when you're in a different time zone.

While this specific automatic message isn't a built-in feature in Airbnb’s platform, you can achieve a similar effect by using a third-party messaging tool that integrates with Airbnb, such as Smartbnb or Guesty, which allow for setting up automated messages based on certain conditions like time of day.

Here's how you can set it up:

  1. Choose a Tool: Select a third-party tool that supports automated messaging and integrates well with Airbnb. Make sure it allows for scheduling messages based on the host's local time.

  2. Set Up Automated Messages: Configure the tool to send an automatic message when guests send you a message during your nighttime hours. The message could say something like: "Hello! Thanks for reaching out. Just a heads up, it's currently nighttime where I am, and I might be asleep. I'll get back to you as soon as I can!"

  3. Inform Guests: You might also want to mention this in your welcome message or house manual, so guests are aware that there could be a delay in responses during your nighttime hours.

  4. Test the Setup: Before fully depending on the automated system, test it to ensure that it works correctly with your Airbnb account and does not disrupt your usual guest communication.

This setup can help manage guest interactions smoothly, ensuring they are informed of potential delays in response due to time zone differences, and maintaining good communication standards.

I hope this helps.

All the best,
