Hi, Do I need formal VvE approval to host a room in my apartment? I listed on the platform very recently and have upcoming reservations. I want to ensure all formalities are done before guests arrive. Also, please advise on any permit requirements and how to connect with the host community. Are there any forums?

You better get the permission but also check your 'Huishoudelijk Reglement' as it should be mentioned there if you are not allowed to do Airbnb.

If it is not specifically mentioned in the "splitsingsacte"  of your apartment, that it is allowed to rent out to tourists,  you always need approval from your VvE.
You could suggest to your fellow residents that you can demonstrate for a year that your rental will take place without nuisance. If there are no complaints,  they can renew the permit for you. 
Did you also ask for a permit from the Municipality and the national registration number?
