Can you file unemployment as a host with lost money?

Has anyone tried to file for unemployment as self-employed? The governor in Michigan told that the "Workers include self-employed, 1099-independent contractors, gig, and low-wage workers who can no longer work because of the pandemic" can file for unemployment. Has anyone else tried to do this or thought about it? I've lost all my income due to 20+ cancelations so far.

I believe you can do this.  This guy was very helpful (no we are not salons, but he talks about other services as well.)

Hi, I am Host Peter from Jamaica. Airbnb has made it clear that they are willing to grand money to hosts like you. Contact their customer care reps and you will be happy.

yes, I believe hosts are meant to be included.  But what I can't figure out is why airbnb isn't suggesting this to hosts directly, as they lobbied for it.  It makes me think we are only going to qualify for one of those SBA loans (which are much more complicated than filing for unemployment insurance.  Also, it may depend on how each state's labor department interprets the federal guidelines.   But I'm with you - I'm hoping!

I filed for unemployment in Los Angeles County. Still waiting to here back....

What did you file under? Is there something for independent contractors? I'm not even sure what we would apply as. I've had a large double room rental within my home for the past 10 years with them. This has been a reliable source of income for me that pays most of my house bills.

Someone in the forum wrote this.  Apparently we are not independent contractors and need to file under bed and breakfast (maybe different in California). I applied twice.  I will try again and try the categories the person below used:

"I just file for unemployment under the new  Pandemic unemployment assistance here in Tennessee. Filed under self employed bed and breakfast. Put in my earning last year and i qualified. There was a video that walked me through it."
