Host Requesting Proof of Identity in Italy

Hi - I am taking a trip to the Amalfi Coast and the host requested photos or either our passports or drivers licenses. Through some google research, there seems to be an Italian law around this? However could we just show upon arrival rather than sending months early? Has anyone else dealt with this in Italy?

thanks!

It's always a good idea when travelling abroad to check the visitor requirements as part of your travel research.

If you look on the Italian embassy website for your country you will see it's a legal requirement for you to provide photo ID to your accommodation provider,  which in turn is provided to local police. If you have a remote host they may find it easier to collect this in advance. @Nick2434

You are also likely to be liable for local tourism tax.
