How is charging more for children cleaning fee not discrimination?

I understand children can be untidy at times. But, isn’t it discrimination to charge an extra cleaning fee because a guest is travelling with children? For example, 2 nights normal cleaning fee is $50, and host would like to charge an additional $100. Plus additional guest fee which I totally understand and have no issue with. Thank you for your opinions and thoughts.

Ya well, would help if commenters stuck to the subject. Asking for additional cleaning fee for children, that isn’t stated in hosts listing, appears to be a problem. Why can’t I try and learn from this experience? I should shut up and move on to make others happy? I prefer to learn how I can avoid bs like this in the future.

“No, extra fee for children not mentioned in her listing “

Guest is not necessary to pay the extra cleaning fee if the host didn’t mention in the listing announcements.
@Branka-and-Silvia0 was right in point of view.

It’s  happen to me few times, guest arrival with children’s didn’t inform me in advance, guest explained was her fault by not correctly enter the numbers of  person in the booking. I accepted and educated the guest is very important to do that in Airbnb platform or either commercial hotel.

I was pleased as they left the place clean without issues.

You may can try again to well communicate with host, as you are not intentionally and unaware of it’s. Hope she can change you in your budget fee and you will learn the lesson and beware for the future booking.

I hope you can resolve its.

@Diane1098 If you did in fact mention who you were traveling with in the initial booking process it is very odd to me that the host didn't catch your oversight and amend the booking for you. This would update the total of the reservation and charge for the extra guests right then and there. As a host, I have had to do this dozens and dozens of times. You did make a mistake by not filling out the guest count but your host also makes a mistake by not probably managing her bookings.

Thank you for your comment. I feel a little more relieved knowing this honest mistake does happen to others. I also wouldn’t have had an issue paying for more guests, as long as the request was done thru Airbnb and documented. I refuse to do any verbal agreements/payments etc.

any reservation can be altered before check-in. So if you make mistake in the number of guests in your group or you want to change the dates, shorten or prolong your stay then you just change it here on the platform using the "change or cancel your reservation " link and your host can accept it or decline. Airbnb then charges you additionally if needed.

By simply telling the host your reservation has changed is not enough and, as you see, can be overlooked by the host and cause a stressful situation
