@Sudsrung0. Despite having  a string of fantastic guests lately, I still have to stop myself saying or noticing things that I'm sure might put off some more sensitive guests. Luckily I usually get to leave them alone and by the end of it, everything is usually fine. Perhaps you need one of those "cleansing" ceremonies and yes,a breather too; sounds like you work very hard to please them 😉

@Frances3408

The standard of guest has gone down or it has for me, we give them a 5 star apartment,

Yesterday we had guest check out they were jus dirty pigs plates of half eaten food everywhere and in the fridge, the microwave was disgusting it's like they cleaned nothing and they had a cleaner 3 days ago all part of our service, the rubbish all the have to do when they go to the lift there is utility room next to it, drop it there,

The attitude we provide a cleaner so they do nothing, She's good but she's not a slave,

On top of that 2 pool towels gone they say they got stolen while they were in the sauna, 1 keycard and can you believe they took one battery out of the remote for the TV I know it was there because when we checked them in I checked the TV was working,

There are those kinds of nasty people in this world, unfortunately.  But, I assure you that there's way more positive and delightful ones. We've all experienced "those undesirable guests" and it's hurtful  but try to stay business minded and not take it personal.  I assume you have house rules and if a guest fails to follow  those than rate them low and do not let them back. I agree with the idea of a "cleansing and protection" blessing for you and the home. You're not alone in this. Ps. We got married in Thailand and absolutely loved it there and the wonderful people like you. Many good vibes sent your way. 💓

Thank you for your kind words,

Im fine,

You will know very well that we Thai people are very hospitable, we aim to please you smile we smile,

Neither of my hosting places (in their entirety) would be classed as 5 star; but I like to think I give 5 star service (no doubt like you) ;). They are renovated inside but basically older style, designed to get knocked about, sand walked through them, pet friendly (one) etc. I did have guests who left a plate of half eaten scrambled eggs in the fridge and a bin full of food, but the real issue was they had left windows open and the a/c on heat after departure and it was 24 hours before this was realised and switched off (they had asked and were granted late check out but never came back after leaving early in the morning). I am learning to laugh and relax more at human nature, the good , the bad and the downright ugly. Sending lots of good karma and smiles your way. 🙂 🙂 🙂

@Sudsrung0  I gather you like to think, here is one for you. Of late we have become a lot more picky who we encourage to stay and not, also to take more time off between a string of 3-4 guests (meaning every 2-3 weeks). The only way we could do this by not looking at  each day not booked as lost income, but necessary to continue to do a good job and thus be 'guaranteed' continued success. Burn out tends to defeat even the strongest among us.

@Fred13

You might be right there block a few days out here and there, None of us knew exactly how this year would pan out and then Bang out calendar is full,

It seem these days it doesnt matter what you have in your house rules they just dont get it, I mean whats the point of taking one battery out of the remote? and a full roll of bin bags so when my cleaner arrives she ain"t got any,

We have a guest arriving today lets hope they are a little bit better,

I also feel like the standard of guests has gone down, but I might just be imagining it as I have always had nice guests and not so great ones.

The problematic ones often come in waves. As they say, when it rains, it pours. I remember particularly what I call "My summer of weirdness", which was late summer 2019. It was also a summer of firsts. It happened in this order:

There was a heatwave. Guest found a dead crow on the street outside. I went to have a look, but some kind passerby had kicked the crow into my front garden. It took two days for the council to come and remove it. Meanwhile, there were hundreds of crows screeching in the trees above. I know this has nothing to do with guest behaviour, but I'm setting the scene...

This guest had a massive argument with another guest. It came out of nowhere and was about nothing at all, but they had just taken an instant disliking to each other (I suspect due to prejudice about each other's nationality). This has never happened before in my house. I had to twice break it up. The second time, I told the guests if they didn't stop, they would need to leave.

A pair of friends/work colleagues came to stay. I soon realised that they were ex-lovers too. It starts off fine, but things soon became tense. On the third or fourth night, they had a massive fight which may or may not have involved violence. The young woman (the booking guest) left the house and I was left dealign with a lovesick young man for the next ten days.

And then there was 'condom girl', who was beyond weird and had to be evicted.

More than one person told me there was bad mojo in the house and that I needed to cleanse it by burning sage... which I didn't, but luckily, the following autumn, things went back to normal...

@Huma0

Them are real Dramas,

We have birds like that they start at 5 am at certain times of the year,

We Thai people believe in things like that bad Karma in a house like if someone has died in that house lots of Thai's are really suspicious,

I am not a suspicious person at all, hence why I didn't go in for the whole burning sage thing. Still, that summer was weird. It wasn't the whole summer, just a brief period during August and early September. In the space of a few weeks, I experienced new and disturbing behaviour from guests. I am sure it was just coincidence, but it did truly test my endurance and make me question why on earth I am putting myself through this.

But, believe me, if this is what I experienced day to day on a long term basis, I would not still be in this business!

And, by the way, this wasn't the normal noisy birds at 5am scenario. This was like a Hitchcock movie and at all times of the day. I have never seen anything else like it here.

I mentioned it to my mum and she told me it is normal. When a crow dies, all the crows around will come to its funeral.

The more likely scenario is that, when they see a dead compatriot, they sense danger and want to warn each other.
