Link referral to new listing prior to publishing

I have a hosting link from a friend in my notifications, but started a listing without clicking on it. The listing has never been published. Can I link my "draft" of what I have in the new listing to gain the referral credit?

I think you just have to give it a try, click on the link and follow instructions.

Thanks @Emiel1 . When I clicked on the referral link, it looks like I have to build the content back from scratch--which I was hoping to avoid. Any other ideas I can try?
