Reviewing guests

As an airbnb host do we have to review guests? Does airbnb penalize us if we don’t?

@Julie984  There are no penalties for not leaving a review, but it is a disservice to other hosts not to be told how the guest behaved.

You should always leave honest reviews. Especially if the guest was one you wouldn't welcome back. No one likes having to mention negative things in a review, but reviews aren't meant to be some mutual admiration society. If you have an objectionable guest, other hosts need to know that so they can decline a booking from them, otherwise these bad guests just keep getting passed around, trashing people's homes and making hosts' lives difficult.

While most hosts appreciate having some specifics, if there is some extenuating reason why you don't want to say anything negative about a guest, like if the guests were your neighbor's brother and family, you can "code" a review, for instance, just say "Guests stayed 3 nights". Other hosts will understand that you had nothing good to say.
