South Carolina tax file numbers

South Carolina tax file numbers

I rent a home that now needs a license to rent in South Carolina.  The form is asking for my tax file numbers.  If airbnb is paying these taxes shouldn't I get the tax ID numbers from them?  If so, how do I go about doing that?

Look up in the Help Center which municipality or taxing agency is contracted with Air BNB to collect taxes.  Sometimes there are occupancy taxes at both city and state or county.  Air BNB is not the owner of the property so more than likely you need a license to have a short term rental.  If Air BNB is collecting and remitting the taxes to which you refer, they do it as a lump sum payment, not as an individually identified listing.

Thank you for your reply and help.  If they are paying the taxes shouldn't I use their tax ID on my short term rental form to obtain a license.  If I get a tax ID there will be nothing hitting my tax account.  I am pretty confused why we aren't just paying the taxes.
