Hello @Stephanie @Yael5 @Rajan2 @Carole140 @Sanee0 @Peter-and-Aime-0 Thank you Stephanie for the update. As a Superhost in Los Angeles, I am still hoping to get some support to keep us going. We were hit with a $900 permit for the City of Los Angeles and were offered the $300 credit but never received it for the permit. Now with the shut down completely stopping all movement in Los Angeles, we have not been able to have guests stay as you know and lost a consistent income. Our studio work is stopped as well so no income has come in from that as well. I do hope that I am considered for the Superhost Relief Fund and can afford the permit fee and continue hosting. 

I have been on Airbnb from the beginning and been involved with two other Superhosts helping guests throughout the process. Now hosting on my own and hoping to get support needed to continue.

I just found out my single family property that has been canceled for the whole month of March April and May (so far nothing in June either) All canceled due to Covid and travel restrictions. Yet some how the strategic dates offered to be eligible by Airbnb do not apply! Ahemmmmm. If this is to help with cancelations why are the dates of cancelations March 14 and booked before March 14,  Mine were booked before March 14, but not all cancellations were completed by March 14,  steady cancellations all of March and part of April.  It seems that the set up is to disqualify  most folks because of the dates?!! I guess its going to be 250 Million dollars to Airbnb friends.

I'm a superhost since 2017, renting out a room in my house and sometimes the whole house. I have spend a lot of time and money to get to a yearly turn over of over €55.000. I changed my work etc. to get to these numbers. Since I live on this income, I have a strict cancellation policy when renting out the whole place. I already lost over €20.000 on cancellation since COVID-19 since my policy was overwritten.

Still I'm not invited to the relief fund. How is this possible?

PS I have the phone calls and chat recordings in which I discussed my detailed situation and things which happened over the last year's of hosting. Airbnb support ensured me that I meet all criteria and will be contacted.

Only a very small percentage of hosts who were eligible and met the criteria  were invited to apply. And the amounts hosts were receiving were small by your standards - I believe up to 5K with most getting lower amounts.

Wow you earn £55,000 a year for renting a room in your house/sometimes a whole house. I could only dream to leveraging that sort of income from one property @Emiel9 Love to hear more about how you have achieved this.

Have you looked at long term lets and work opportunities outside of STRs to increase your income?

In the UK many short term work opportunities have opened up such as working in health and care, our post office, supermarkets and distribution centres.

@Helen3 please note we don't only rent the guestroom; we also rent out the whole house when we are on vacation (50 days a year). Some smart price tactics, improvements on the house and a lot of effort to give the guests the best experience made this possible. This year we would have easily reached 60. It took me about 3 years to double the first year income. 

We lost over €24.000 on confirmed reservations due to the change of the cancellation policy. Since we meet all criteria (on record confirmed multiple times by Airbnb agents), I really wonder how much effort a host has to put in Airbnb and how much you should loose to be invited.

We made an investment (new floor on the house and extra bathroom) last year based on the confirmed reservations. So we really need the money. Since we put so much effort and made so much money for ourselves and Airbnb we feel really bad.

Since it is not possible to talk to a second line agent, we really don't know what to do. We don't have the time to go the the media and we also don't like this kind of tactics. Any ideas?

Hi, I would like to know if I missed the email regarding the Airbnb COVID-19 relief fund? Because I didn’t receive any messages or notifications about it. I lost a lot of money this year and would like to know if someone can contact me if I am qualified for the relief fund.

all, I received a invitation to the relief fund this past week.  I have lost well over $8000 just in cancelations not even counting empty days rented.  Needless to say, we are in a very bad place financially due largely to ABBs policies.  I tried to file for the relief fund and was presented a error... 2 times.  On the 3rd time was told the window is closed and recommended to "contact my local government for help".  This is a JOKE and clearly yet another insult to injury served by AirBNB.  Poor.

I am struggling to understand how Airbnb has dropped us without any acknowledgement of hosting or Superhost funding. We want to continue hosting but are now struggling with how to make the payments to the city of Los Angeles. We will be required to pay an additional $900 dollars towards the permit to keep hosting with zero income from airbnb. We have surpassed the limits of our initial short-term hosting permit and now need to up ours to continue. The city of Los Angeles does not have a permit person you can speak with to find out what the next steps are and they have not postponed this permit fee or removed it for the year. This is very frustrating and outside of any discussions on here, we are hearing radio-silence from all parties. Enforcing or requiring us to follow the rules during normal times but not supporting us during this very troubling time is wrong. I am very frustrated and hope others can help me understand how we can continue to host. My faith in Airbnb is dwindling.

To Clarify this is for Extended Home-Sharing and this requires an additional payment to continue Airbnb in the City of Los Angeles.

Extended Home-Sharing

To participate in home-sharing for more than 120 days per year, applicants must apply for an extended home-sharing registration. In addition to the eligibility requirements outlined above, applicants must also meet the following criteria to participate in extended home-sharing. 

Applicants may apply online using the same portal they initially used to register for home-sharing. 

• Six Months or 60 Days: Hosts must have maintained a valid home-sharing registration for at least six months or have hosted for at least 60 days.
• Neighborhood Notification: Hosts must notify adjacent and abutting owners and occupants.
• No Suspensions or Revocations. Hosts must demonstrate that they have not had their registration suspended or revoked within the past two years.
• No More than One Citation. Hosts cannot have more than one citation issued within the prior three years to qualify for administrative approval. Otherwise, hosts must submit an application for discretionary review. The discretionary review process allows Los Angeles City Planning to consider whether there has been a history of continued nuisance activity at the site, and may require a public hearing.
