resistance in den haag

Hi, we recently renovated a house and put it for rental on Airbnb till our daughter moves in, in the autumn.
We registered the property for short rental in the municipality.
Very soon after, we received a nasty letter from the municipality of the Hague. Even though we registered the property openly and lawfully and would have provided all the information, they elected to send an inspector and disrupt guests to discover that .... well .... the property is rented. Based on this covert operation, they concluded that we run the property as a business and should stop immediately.

There are a few hundred apartments in The Hague offered on Airbnb, many of them throughout the year. I fail to believe that all those properties were zoned commercial.
anyone can shed some light and suggest a course of action?

Thanks

S and A

You should not have registred for short rental if you only do Airbnb.  Airbnb is not the renting business, it is  hosting/hospitality business. Some cities (like Amsterdam) have special agreements with Airbnb, but i never heared The Hague has this, so better ignore the clerks (at least not wake them up). It is a private matter, you are not running a business. Maybe be more concerned about the terms of your mortgage-lender or your home insurrance, as they often do not cover "doing Airbnb".
