Can an Airbnb host ask for you and your guests occupation in Ontario?

My host is asking about the occupations of each of my guests… is this allowed in Ontario/Toronto? I understand being picky about who comes in but providing ID is one thing… asking more personal questions seems intrusive. Never have been asked this before

I've checked over the booking requirements and can't see occupation listed there.  

I know that some hosts are very security-conscious, and can ask questions like this unless they infringed on protected identities, but I can see why you'd query why they'd need to know your occupation.  

Are you at the listing currently or have they asked for a future stay that you've booked? 

Did you ask why they needed to know?  I'm curious to know the outcome so please feel free to come back and update.
