Cancellations for end of July or August in the UK

I'm getting a number of cancellation 'requests' now from guests who booked pre March under the strict cancellation policy I had then. They are now contacting me saying things such as "the wedding I was going to is cancelled, can I have my money back" or "my flight has been cancelled, can I have my money back?" In my view it is likely the UK will reopen again for holidays post 4th July unless things change again. Whilst I am deeply sympathetic to people who are guests at a wedding do I just give them £500 back (their 50% deposit) in the hope that I will get another booking or should I say nicely bad luck as I'm not an insurance company? Someone's flight from Europe being cancelled for August is not (in my view) a valid reason for cancellation as other carriers are ramping up their bookings for August. Any thoughts welcome please?

Since things are opening up, @David3267 , would it work for you to consider doing what many of us did pre-pandemic? That is, when we felt it was warranted, we offered to refund if the dates were rebooked?
