Guests understating the number of guests to stay

Hi everyone

I'm pretty cranky that I received an enquiry from a potential guest who had stated 2 guests in their booking quote, and received a price accordingly, but then sent me a message indicating that there were 6 adults, 6 children and 1 infant in their group and they hoped I would accept their booking.

I replied to their message indicating that our house has capacity to sleep up to 8 adults in beds (in 4 separate bedrooms) plus two infants in cots.

How do people think we can accommodate extra people???

This is not the first time I have received enquiries or even instant bookings, where the number of guests quoted for in the booking, is understated, so the guests pay less. If I change my fee structure, it will probably affect our hit rate for bookings.

What do other hosts do when the number of guests in the booking is understated?

Thanks, in advance for your input.

Kathryn

@Kathryn438  Yes it’s so annoying, I have a booking for 4 people x 1 night, we have 3 x Queen beds so it suits 3 couples but this guest has now stated there are 7 of them! (Extra 3 people are probably 3 single people) do they expect me to provide 2 extra beds?  We are now in limbo not knowing what to do?

@Kathryn438Just say No and move on. No matter what you do there will be a small proportion of guests will force their way in, scamming, cheap or even worst try look for a party house and destroy your place.

Nothing to be annoyed, just say No and put your energy into your quality guests, not the bad guests.
