How do you see AI changing the way we travel in the next 5 years?

I’ve been thinking about how AI might change the way we travel in the next few years. Right now we already see hints of it—AI booking suggestions, automatic translations, even airports testing faster border control. It feels like we’re heading into a future where travel is less about paperwork and more about actual experiences.

Some things I can imagine:

Walking through immigration without showing a passport because AI already knows it’s you.

Asking for “a weekend beach trip with good food” and instantly getting flight and stay options without spending hours on filters.

Real-time translation so you can chat with locals naturally instead of playing charades with Google Translate.

Smarter trip planning where an AI assistant handles the boring admin while you focus on enjoying the trip.

Of course, AI also has its quirks. I once tested a travel app that confidently suggested “romantic dinner… at a petrol station.” So, maybe not everything is perfect yet.

How do you all see AI shaping travel in the next five years? Would you trust an AI to plan your holiday, or do you prefer the human touch (and maybe fewer bizarre suggestions)?

It reminds me that 15 years ago people believed all cars would be autonomous by now. It didn’t happen, despite the huge hype and the billions of dollars spent trying to achieve this goal.

Ask yourself why it didn’t happen. If you are not sure, ask AI.

Then answer any question about the future of AI using the insights gained from that reflection.

Unfortunately, our decision-making is much more complicated and complex than we like to believe.
