I’ll start first:

I haven’t even hosted my first guest yet, but this community already feels like such a meaningful part of my journey. I came here expecting tips about listings and hosting, but instead I found people who genuinely teach with honesty, patience, kindness, and care.

As someone currently pursuing my Master’s in Business Law and International Trade Law, most of my world has always revolved around structure, rights, systems, and responsibilities. Hosting felt like entering an entirely different world one built around warmth, human connection, culture, comfort, and shared experiences.

Over the years, I’ve stayed in many home-like places while traveling, met hosts who became friends, shared stories, meals, recipes, laughter, and memories. Living independently for a long time also taught me something important: sometimes people don’t just search for accommodation, they search for comfort, belonging, peace, and a feeling of home.

That’s the feeling I hope to create someday.

And honestly, this community has already helped shape that dream. Every honest comment, every piece of advice, every thoughtful correction has taught me something valuable. It genuinely feels like learning from people who want to see you grow instead of fail.

Hosting taught me that the small details often make the biggest difference.

Clear communication, clear and comfortable spaces and making guests feel genuinaly cared for can completley change someone's travel expericence. I think great hosting is not only about providing accomodation , but about creating trust, comfort, and a sense of connection from the very first message to the final checkout.

Every giuests arrives with different expectations, stories and needs and I try to make each stay feel smooth, personal and authentic.

For me hosting is about creating a space where guests can relax, feel welcome and leave with a  good memory

This is beautiful @Paola2767. I think a lot of our hosts will agree with you on this. Is there anything that you do in particular to help your guests feel this way?

In the apartment there are a lot of guidebooks in ITalian, English, German and any in French.

As a tour guide myself, I recommend interesting places for them to visit, always taking into account their needs, interests, and the time they have available.

In addition to suggesting places to visit, I recommend places to eat and answer their questions.

I strongly believe in building a direct relationship with guests

It depends. The relationship with the guest should be based on respect and discretion.
If I sense from the host’s messages that they’d like some information or suggestions, I let them know that I’m happy to recommend places to visit and the most convenient ways to get there.
This helps them plan their days better.
The same applies during their stay

@Rebecca As my work schedule permits. If I can’t meet with them in person, I welcome them over the phone, via WhatsApp, or on the platform.

Coming from a world of Law, where everything is so structured and based on rules, I’ve found that the Community Cafe is where I come to remind myself of the 'human' side of life. I’m learning that while contracts protect the house, it’s the patience and kindness I see here that actually build the home.

This community has been my quiet space to grow my confidence before my first guest even steps through the door. I’m so grateful to have a seat at this 'table' with all of you!

And Yes, I am practicing it every day even before my first check-in. I’m learning that 'hosting warmly' starts right here in this community by listening to all of you. It’s been the best classroom I could ask for!

I try to be transparent as a host. That builds trust and honesty. All needs won’t be met, but Giving people A space and place where they feel comfortable in your home and comfortable with communicating with you is important. Thank you for sharing.
