I had someone messaging me on AirBNB site saying they were going to book my house, but no actual booking came in and the days stayed open on the calendar, then another party booked these days and the original person is saying she wants the house as she asked first. please help! what do I do??
@Deborah903Tell her "You snooze, you lose." She should have booked it first instead of waiting. You don't owe her anything.
Please check your booking criteria and determine if you wish to have Instant Booking activated. If you want to allow guest to book without your involment, IB is good. However, you can stipulate the criteria for that include the guest have a previous positive review. At least there is some information that the guest is not going to trash your place.
Alternatively, you can require the guest contact you first. If you do that , you need to have some criteria for vetting potential guests. Do a little research on this process so you can stay in control of you is staying in your home. A good source of information is this forum. Read discussions around how to vet guests.
Good luck and welcome to Air BNB!!
@Deborah903 Those who snooze lose! You should empathetically message the snoozer but also explain that the dates stay available until booked. Honour the booking that paid.
An inquiry does not entitle you to rights on a place or dates. I would kindly let her know that unfortunately someone else reserved the dates she was considering, and tell her you hope to be able to host her in the future.
