Is it just me...or does this seem strange?
Hi fellow hosts,
It seems really odd to me that every single one if my rescent cancellations has used the same verbiage
"Hi Cindy,
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to stay at your place after all because of the incident affecting Fort Collins."
We currently do not have any incidents outside what every other community is experiencing. The majority of my cancelations have been because the EVENT they were coming to was cancelled.
These messages feel as though Airbnb has fed them the wording to make their case sound dire?
Anyone else notice that guests are using the same or similar wording in their cancellations? Hmmm

It is filled in by the system, @Cindy58 . Mine say "the incident affecting Florence". (My Florence is a village in the middle of nowhere...) One guest who was nice enough to send a personal note mentioned that it was an auto-filled message.
So no worries. Just the system being, well, the system : )

So on the guest side, they see, "This reservation qualifies for a full refund because of the incident affecting [host city]... we can help you change or cancel the reservation now"
Then there's a big green button that says "Change or cancel reservation", and when they press that button, the message box autopopulates with "Unfortunately, we won't be able to stay at your place because of the incident affecting [host city]" The guest can then choose whether or not to add their own part to the message.

Hey, all! @Cindy58 , @Susan17 , @Sandra126 , @Lisa723 , @Ashley678 : A small thing, but my last cancellation -- for next week that came in minutes ago (hallelujah!) -- says "... decided not to travel due to the COVID-19..."
That is so much more accurate than "due to the incident affecting Florence". I am happy the coders have caught up.
It's a small thing, as I said, but it goes a long way.
Now, if it were excruciatingly accurate, it would say "due to the host telling her how many cases are in the local hospital and pondering whether all non-essential travel might be banned, and being self-deprecating about her own sterilizing skills."
You do what you can.
