Hi all,
We booked a traveling nurse for 3 months. She’s 2 weeks into the rental, and has to leave for personal/ boyfriend related reasons.
She’s fine with a 30 day period of paying and not being here, like giving notice on a month to month rental. But I’m rather new at hosting and can’t figure out how to have her pay for the next 30 days, change her end date,
and open the apartment up for other bookings. If I was able to book it, I’d refund her money for the overlap.
Thanks for any help with this.
Jeremy
ask her to make an amendment to booking thru website. Consider refunding her the x2 weeks as well as we all love nurses and chances are you will get a guest anyway.
Call customer service for more detailed instructions.
Always ask the guest to cancel or ammend always try to avoid doing this yourself unless you have to ask someone to leave your house.
Thanks @Stuart177 I’ll ask her to find that on the website.
As much as I’d love to refund her for nights already stayed here, we are not in a position to do that due to pandemic related layoffs. Specifically mine.
understood, I was refering to the nights she wasnt staying there...my understanding was she stayed 2 weeks out of a one month booking, but i totally understand it tough for all right now.
@Stuart177 She actually stayed 2 weeks out of a 3 month booking. We’re treating it like getting out of a month to month rental with 30 days notice. And if we book it during that time, we’ll issue some refund.
If she cancels with the "long term stay" policy active, she will be forced to use the "shorten reservaton " feature. It will calculate the final price for the new check-out date. Which means 30 nigths are charged from date of check-out. After such "cancel" the calender is open for new bookings again from day of check-out. If you rebook and want to refund some more, then use the resolution centre.
BTW You can also use the "shorten reservation" option yourself, giving also manual control about the amount you want to charge/refund.
Best regards,
Emiel
Thanks @Emiel1 . She managed to contact someone at Air BnB and we agreed to terms. It was all pretty easy actually.
I’m not sure that the guest actually can cancel or shorten a long term reservation that’s already started unilaterally without an agreement with the host. If they cancel before the booking starts, they are refunded all except a 30 day term. But we had to agree to terms (actually easy to do- she was a great guest). Someone at Air BnB facilitated the change.
Thanks everyone for your help!
