New to the Community Center? Introduce yourself here 👇
Hello everyone! 😊
Welcome to the Community Center! 👋 I'm @Elisa , one of the Community Managers for our English Community Center along with my lovely team members @Quincy @Paula @Rebecca @Bhumika @Alex @Emilie and we are thrilled to have you join us.
Let's kickstart this thread with a little about us Community Managers:
@Quincy : I'm from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 I have been on the Community Center for 7+ years, and have been an Airbnb Host myself. I love cycling🚲, playing football⚽, and travelling🌏 . I love how dynamic and diverse the Community Center is as we meet Hosts from all around the globe.
@Bhumika : 🌍 I was born in Gujarat, India 🇮🇳 , and shifted to Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 last year! 📷 I recently realized my love for photography and aesthetics. I love to capture mundane life and candid pictures. 🌆 When I'm not working, you'll find me binge-watching thriller movies or exploring history.
@Paula : I am from Colombia 🇨🇴 and currently living in British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦. I have a passion for Latin American culture (I love to dance 💃) . I've had the opportunity to visit around 20 countries 🌎 and plan to visit many more. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially mountain biking 🚲 and hiking 🏔.
@Rebecca : I'm from Cardiff in Wales originally but being a military child and a veterans spouse, I've travelled and lived in a lot of different places in the UK and Europe. I'm an environmentalist 🌿 and like to minimise my impact on the planet 🌎 as well as volunteering in my local community. I love sea swimming 🌊 yoga on the beach 🧘 and I'm a children's yoga instructor too! 🙌
@Elisa : I was born in Italy 🇮🇹 and as a lover of unique experiences—from exploring the streets of Rome🇮🇹 , Paris 🇫🇷, and Toronto 🇨🇦 to appreciating timeless art and cuisine—I'm here to blend the old with the new.
@Alex : I'm originally from Spain 🇪🇸, but my passion for traveling made me move to Toronto🇨🇦 this year to explore the culture and add another unforgettable experience to my journey ✈️. I'm also passionate about all kinds of sports ⚽️ (especially football, in which I played at a semi-professional level) and love to discover new dishes everywhere I go. 🥘
@Emilie : I was born in France 🇫🇷, raised in French Polynesia 🌺 and Morocco 🇲🇦, and have settled in the UK for 14 years now! On evenings and weekends, you will find me spending time with my dog, working on a jigsaw, or trying my hand at some new cuisine. 🍲
Now it's your turn! Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? And is there something special about the location of your accommodation that you'd like to share?
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Warm regards🌻,
Elisa

Hello @Tracey-Ann4 👋
It's so great to meet you - welcome to the Community Center! Congrats on your first booking too 🎉 What an exciting milestone! It sounds like Joshua's Estate is a fantastic getaway spot, especially with all the beautiful nature around.
What made you nervous about your first booking? Do you think you'll feel the same for your next one?

Hi @Rebecca ,
Thank you so much, and yes, it is a perfect getaway from all the hustle and bustle.
I was just nervous because it was my first booking in general. I kept thinking about whether I forgot something or if my guest would be comfortable. But once everything went smoothly and I got that first bit of positive feedback, it boosted my confidence. I think I'll feel a bit more relaxed for the next one, but still just as eager to make it special!

Hello, @Elisa,
I'm Photini, and I live in Cyprus, a beautiful island in the eastern corner of the Mediterranean Sea. I’ve been an Airbnb host since 2016, but this is my first time joining the Community Centre. I suppose I was just too busy until now!
Over the past nine years, I’ve had the pleasure of hosting guests from most parts of the world. I’ve learned a lot from these experiences and believe I have much to share with fellow hosts and even more to learn from them.
My accommodations are located in a small village in the northwestern part of Cyprus, two cosy cottages nestled in the heart of the village, right on the edge of the stunning Akamas National Park. Guests often visit the area to enjoy hiking through the park’s natural beauty and to relax on the nearby beaches, all just a short distance away.

Hello @Photini4!
Welcome to the Community! 😄
From what I can see, you have a lot of experience in hosting! That means we are going to learn a lot from you. 💭
What's one of the most important things you would say you have learned over the years hosting different types of guests? 🏡

Hello, @Alex ,
Thank you, Alex, for your comment. Over the years, I’ve gained valuable experience, and I'm always happy to share it to help newcomers succeed. I’ve hosted all kinds of guests, and one thing I've learned is that people are essentially the same everywhere. The main differences come from the cultural and family values they bring with them. Guests who are empathetic tend to be polite, respect the rules, and take care of the space entrusted to them. Others, unfortunately, sometimes take advantage of the fact that the property isn’t theirs and behave in ways they wouldn’t in their own homes. As owners, the best we can do is treat every guest with respect, make them feel welcome, and be available to support them whenever they need assistance, especially if they come from abroad and are not familiar with the local environment.
