Hello everyone! ๐
Welcome to the Community Center! ๐ I'm @Elisa , one of the Community Managers for our English Community Center along with my lovely team members @Quincy @Paula @Rebecca @Bhumika @Alex @Emilie and we are thrilled to have you join us.
Let's kickstart this thread with a little about us Community Managers:
@Quincy : I'm from the Netherlands ๐ณ๐ฑ I have been on the Community Center for 7+ years, and have been an Airbnb Host myself. I love cycling๐ฒ, playing footballโฝ, and travelling๐ . I love how dynamic and diverse the Community Center is as we meet Hosts from all around the globe.
@Bhumika : ๐ I was born in Gujarat, India ๐ฎ๐ณ , and shifted to Toronto, Canada ๐จ๐ฆ last year! ๐ท I recently realized my love for photography and aesthetics. I love to capture mundane life and candid pictures. ๐ When I'm not working, you'll find me binge-watching thriller movies or exploring history.
@Paula : I am from Colombia ๐จ๐ด and currently living in British Columbia, Canada ๐จ๐ฆ. I have a passion for Latin American culture (I love to dance ๐) . I've had the opportunity to visit around 20 countries ๐ and plan to visit many more. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially mountain biking ๐ฒ and hiking ๐.
@Rebecca : I'm from Cardiff in Wales originally but being a military child and a veterans spouse, I've travelled and lived in a lot of different places in the UK and Europe. I'm an environmentalist ๐ฟ and like to minimise my impact on the planet ๐ as well as volunteering in my local community. I love sea swimming ๐ yoga on the beach ๐งโ and I'm a children's yoga instructor too! ๐
@Elisa : I was born in Italy ๐ฎ๐น and as a lover of unique experiencesโfrom exploring the streets of Rome๐ฎ๐น , Paris ๐ซ๐ท, and Toronto ๐จ๐ฆ to appreciating timeless art and cuisineโI'm here to blend the old with the new.
@Alex : I'm originally from Spain ๐ช๐ธ, but my passion for traveling made me move to Toronto๐จ๐ฆ this year to explore the culture and add another unforgettable experience to my journey โ๏ธ. I'm also passionate about all kinds of sports โฝ๏ธ (especially football, in which I played at a semi-professional level) and love to discover new dishes everywhere I go. ๐ฅ
@Emilie : I was born in France ๐ซ๐ท, raised in French Polynesia ๐บ and Morocco ๐ฒ๐ฆ, and have settled in the UK for 14 years now! On evenings and weekends, you will find me spending time with my dog, working on a jigsaw, or trying my hand at some new cuisine. ๐ฒ
Now it's your turn! Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? And is there something special about the location of your accommodation that you'd like to share?
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Warm regards๐ป,
Elisa

Hi @Jenia10 , it's great to hear about your journey from Honduras to Spain and your experiences as an Airbnb host since 2016. Your perspective on the evolution of the platform is really interesting! What specific aspects of Airbnb do you feel have changed the most?

Hello everyone! My name is Umberto and I was born in Germany with an Italian dad and a Polish mom. Since 2021 I live in Guatemala at the beautiful lake Petรฉn Itza close to the island of Flores. My journey on Airbnb began back in 2021 when I started to rent out my shipping container home in the Guatemalan jungle. Ever since I started, my guests have repeatedly gifted me the super host status which I am very proud of. I continue to provide a warm and welcoming retreat for travelers and love how it lets me meet new people and share stories that are both inspiring and interesting. I hope to learn a lot from my fellow hosts and maybe even give a little advice if I can.
Hi @Umberto441 , it's great to hear about your unique journey as a host, especially with such an interesting background and location. Your shipping container home sounds like a fantastic retreat!
How did you come up this idea of a shipping container home? Do you have any tips and ideas for fellow hosts?
The idea was born years ago while I was still living in Germany. I guess the idea to use a shipping container and the challenges it brings always fascinated me. And it was something I though was easy enough to pull of here in Guatemala and also pretty unique in my area.
Tips or ideas...well make your listing unique, but not only in the physical sense. It should be an experience people will remember. And that's when we as hosts come in with our uniqueness, our personality and our passion for hosting. A guest easily forgets the Egyptian cotton duvets or the fancy tv set. What they don't forget is if you treated them well and made their stay unique.
Hi Everyone,
I am Rahul from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, started hosting my place few months ago and I am really enjoying it.
Hi @Rahul253 , it's great to hear that you're enjoying hosting in Jodhpur.
What have been some of your favorite experiences or highlights so far as a host?
Best,
Hello everyone,
I'm Hรฅvard from Norway. We are a family of four+dog. don't do so much travel ourselves, living quite busy lives here. We have a summer house by the coast, which is quite attractive, all seasons. We don't get to use it so much as we want to, and therefore chose to rent it out via Airbnb. We are quite new to all this, but so long it has been uncomplicated and rewarding, both in terms of economy, but also to get to meet all kinds of people that rent from us.
All the best,
Hรฅvard
Hi @Jon-Hรฅvard0 , itโs great to hear from you! Renting out your summer house sounds like a wonderful way to share its beauty with others while also connecting with diverse guests.
What has been your most memorable experience with your guests so far?
ยกHOLA, COMO ESTรN? LOS SALUDO DESDE COLOMBIA, POR DIVERSAS CIRCUNSTANCIAS EXPLORE AIRBNB, LO QUE HA SIDO UNA EXPERIENCIA MUY ENRIQUECEDORA, CONOCER PERSONAS, ALGO DE SUS CULTURAS Y LA FORMA EN LA QUE VEN MI PAรS, HAN SIDO PARTE DEL APRENDIZAJE.
Google Translation added by Community Manager: Hello, how are you? I greet you from Colombia. Due to various circumstances, I explored Airbnb, which has been a very enriching experience. Meeting people, some of their cultures, and the way they see my country have been part of the learning.
Hi @Hector-F5 , it's great to hear from you in Colombia. Sounds like you've had a wonderful experience with Airbnb, connecting with people and learning about different cultures.
What has been the most memorable experience or interaction you've had with a guest so far?

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum but not new to Airbnb - I've been "Airbnb'ing" since 2005 ( a couple years before Airbnb was born.) I've always airbnb'd my own home - a duplex - but now have a rental apartment that I mostly rent out mid-term through another platform given the leasing office has a multi-step process for approving sublessors. But am keen to tighten up my listings and potentially add more to my portfolio as I love to travel, and LOVE hosting. I'm currently in Cartagena, CO, spend summers in Ithaca, NY, spend spring and fall in the DC area, and winter and other times largely in Antigua, Guatemala. I intend to start exploring Mexico for a place to invest - both as a home for myself part of the year and also short / mid-term rental.
So I guess I'm in the scaling up (modestly) exploration phase and welcome input from folks who started with one or two properties and grew from there. Thank you all!
