Hello everyone! 😊
Welcome to the Community Center! 👋 I'm @Elisa , one of the Community Managers for our English Community Center along with my lovely team members @Quincy @Paula @Rebecca @Bhumika @Alex @Emilie and we are thrilled to have you join us.
Let's kickstart this thread with a little about us Community Managers:
@Quincy : I'm from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 I have been on the Community Center for 7+ years, and have been an Airbnb Host myself. I love cycling🚲, playing football⚽, and travelling🌏 . I love how dynamic and diverse the Community Center is as we meet Hosts from all around the globe.
@Bhumika : 🌍 I was born in Gujarat, India 🇮🇳 , and shifted to Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 last year! 📷 I recently realized my love for photography and aesthetics. I love to capture mundane life and candid pictures. 🌆 When I'm not working, you'll find me binge-watching thriller movies or exploring history.
@Paula : I am from Colombia 🇨🇴 and currently living in British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦. I have a passion for Latin American culture (I love to dance 💃) . I've had the opportunity to visit around 20 countries 🌎 and plan to visit many more. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially mountain biking 🚲 and hiking 🏔.
@Rebecca : I'm from Cardiff in Wales originally but being a military child and a veterans spouse, I've travelled and lived in a lot of different places in the UK and Europe. I'm an environmentalist 🌿 and like to minimise my impact on the planet 🌎 as well as volunteering in my local community. I love sea swimming 🌊 yoga on the beach 🧘 and I'm a children's yoga instructor too! 🙌
@Elisa : I was born in Italy 🇮🇹 and as a lover of unique experiences—from exploring the streets of Rome🇮🇹 , Paris 🇫🇷, and Toronto 🇨🇦 to appreciating timeless art and cuisine—I'm here to blend the old with the new.
@Alex : I'm originally from Spain 🇪🇸, but my passion for traveling made me move to Toronto🇨🇦 this year to explore the culture and add another unforgettable experience to my journey ✈️. I'm also passionate about all kinds of sports ⚽️ (especially football, in which I played at a semi-professional level) and love to discover new dishes everywhere I go. 🥘
@Emilie : I was born in France 🇫🇷, raised in French Polynesia 🌺 and Morocco 🇲🇦, and have settled in the UK for 14 years now! On evenings and weekends, you will find me spending time with my dog, working on a jigsaw, or trying my hand at some new cuisine. 🍲
Now it's your turn! Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? And is there something special about the location of your accommodation that you'd like to share?
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Warm regards🌻,
Elisa

Hello @Thiago494 👋
Welcome to the Community Center! It's great to have you here with us. Massambaba Reserve sounds beautiful. What's your favourite thing about hosting there?
I'm from Bulgaria and i joined Airbnb in 2020. For now i'm just a guest but hope to become a co-host in near future and one day a host. So far i traveled in 3 counties. USA (16 stays) , Bulgaria (5 stays) and Romania (1 stay). I'm new to the Community Center. I like to discover new places and new people
Hello @Ivan2961 👋
Welcome to the Community Center! How fantastic that you're exploring lots of different countries. Where's next on your list?
There’s also this article that might help you: How to find and become an experienced Co-Host on Airbnb? 😊
Hello, My name is Bradley and I have been repeatedly told to post my New Rental Concept, Essential PXM Residences that are Eco-Environmentally Friendly Self-sustainable solar-powered Cargo Shipping Container Lofts Beach adjacent in the Surfing Town of Puerto Escondido on this platform. Most people are posting Rooms for Rent in their primary residence in the USA. Whereas this is located in OAX, Mexico and as a Canadian American I am not sure this is the correct platform. Are Foreigners allowed to post on this platform? And will Travelers Worldwide really see my property posted?
Hello Bradley (@Edel158) 👋
Hello Rebecca:
Thank-you for your kind information and the posting policies. Since I am just starting out, this may not be a good fit for me at this time. I will try other platforms suitable for me and my needs. Thank-you again for writing back so quickly. Enjoy your day.
Hi @Elisa, this is @Heinrich63, we have been hosting for over a year in South Africa which has become a way of life for us.
Hi @Heinrich63 😊,
Welcome to the Community Center, and thank you for sharing this here!
South Africa sounds absolutely gorgeous. 😍
How has your hosting experience been so far?
Do you tend to welcome more local travelers or international guests?
Warm regards 🌻,

I've stayed in many Airbnb places before, and now I'm hosting for the first time. My first guest will arrive at the end of the week. I'm very excited to see how it will go.
Hello @Nydia25!
Welcome to the Community Center and congratulations for your first reservation! 🤗 How long is the guest staying? 🏡 Do you have everything ready for them? 📋
@Alex Nice meeting everyone!
My guess would be staying for 9 days and I do have everything ready. I hope that my guest will give me feedback about what to improve.
That's a good way to start hosting, @Nydia25! 🤗 When did you started hosting? 🏡 Let us know how the first experience goes 😁
Hello everyone, @Elisa @Alex @Rebecca @Quincy @Paula @Bhumika @Emilie
I'm Linda from Toronto, and I'm delighted to join this community.
I'm here because I believe the new review dispute procedure is unfair to global hosts. Basically, all back end team, like Trust team, Safety team, and now, review integrity team all 10 times bully host, and side on the guests, While preparing some materials with ChatGPT, I discovered a helpful URL from this group.
I hope to find a way to reach the policy makers through this community.
Three years ago, our team directly contacted Airbnb's Global Host Business VP, Catherine Powell. She was the only one who responded to us, and the next day, she appointed an executive support team to reach out. This led to the Winter 2022 host updates, with 80% of the policies originating from our team, including the removal of retaliatory reviews and the establishment of the community education team. Before these changes, every call to Airbnb during peak times required at least an hour of waiting, but now, it's just a few minutes. Unfortunately, Catherine left Airbnb over a year ago, and our attempts to reach Brian Chesky, Tara B, or other board members have gone unanswered.
I'm not sure if the community manager here has any chance to reach the policy-making team, but from my years as an Airbnb host, I can clearly see that the platform/system designers lack sufficient knowledge of the Airbnb host business.
Our team consists of several independent consultants from global top 5 consulting firms, and we have been Airbnb hosts for over 8 years. We often feel that platform changes tend to worsen rather than improve the experience. We would like to contribute our professional expertise to Airbnb, but our feedback has not led to improvements in the past.
I hope someone from the policy-making level can reach out to us. We are even willing to provide free consultation services (which our consultant time value to our company client is $300+ per hour to charge our government/bank/public company clients) to Airbnb management, which could benefit global Airbnb hosts, just as we did three years ago.
Thank you for your attention.
