Hello everyone! 😊
Welcome to the Community Center! 👋  I'm @Elisa , one of the Community Managers for our English Community Center along with my lovely team members @Quincy @Paula @Rebecca @Bhumika @Alex @Emilie and we are thrilled to have you join us.
Let's kickstart this thread with a little about us Community Managers:
@Quincy : I'm from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 I have been on the Community Center for 7+ years, and have been an Airbnb Host myself. I love cycling🚲, playing football⚽, and travelling🌏 . I love how dynamic and diverse the Community Center is as we meet Hosts from all around the globe.
@Bhumika :  🌍 I was born in Gujarat, India 🇮🇳 , and shifted to Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 last year! 📷 I recently realized my love for photography and aesthetics. I love to capture mundane life and candid pictures. 🌆 When I'm not working, you'll find me binge-watching thriller movies or exploring history.
@Paula : I am from Colombia 🇨🇴 and currently living in British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦. I have a passion for Latin American culture (I love to dance 💃) . I've had the opportunity to visit around 20 countries 🌎 and plan to visit many more. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially mountain biking 🚲 and hiking 🏔.
@Rebecca : I'm from Cardiff in Wales originally but being a military child and a veterans spouse, I've travelled and lived in a lot of different places in the UK and Europe. I'm an environmentalist 🌿 and like to minimise my impact on the planet 🌎 as well as volunteering in my local community.  I love sea swimming 🌊 yoga on the beach 🧘 and I'm a children's yoga instructor too! 🙌
@Elisa : I was born in Italy 🇮🇹 and as a lover of unique experiences—from exploring the streets of Rome🇮🇹 , Paris 🇫🇷, and Toronto 🇨🇦 to appreciating timeless art and cuisine—I'm here to blend the old with the new.
@Alex : I'm originally from Spain 🇪🇸, but my passion for traveling made me move to Toronto🇨🇦 this year to explore the culture and add another unforgettable experience to my journey ✈️. I'm also passionate about all kinds of sports ⚽️ (especially football, in which I played at a semi-professional level) and love to discover new dishes everywhere I go. 🥘
@Emilie : I was born in France 🇫🇷, raised in French Polynesia 🌺 and Morocco 🇲🇦, and have settled in the UK for 14 years now! On evenings and weekends, you will find me spending time with my dog, working on a jigsaw, or trying my hand at some new cuisine. 🍲
Now it's your turn! Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? And is there something special about the location of your accommodation that you'd like to share?
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Warm regards🌻,
Elisa

Hi @Sophors0!

I live in the heart of Louisville, KY—home of the Kentucky Derby, world-class bourbon, and way more cool stuff than people expect. I’m always up for an adventure, whether it’s traveling somewhere new or sweating it out in a hot yoga class. But one of my favorite things is hosting friends here in Louisville and showing off our city’s hidden gems—like quirky neighborhoods, local eats, and of course, stops along the Bourbon Trail. If you haven’t experienced the magic of Derby season or sipped bourbon where it was born… you’re seriously missing out!

Hi, All!
We live in central Illinois, not the most exciting place on the planet, and are surrounded by cornfields. However, there are two universities in our little city and a lovely bit of history. We live on a cobblestone street in the heart of town with a half acre and a 150-year old home. Having been a historic site manager in the past, I know how much people love to engage with these old dames and having 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, it seemed like a logical thing to do to offer a few rooms for rent. We started just about 9 months ago and, all in all, are enjoying meeting all the delightful people who come through on a regular basis.

@Rebecca I love the guidebook option in the platform. While I list a variety of options, I always ask guests if they have plans for the evening, gauging if they would like a recommendation. Most do and, then, I push my favorite, a farm to table restaurant which doesn't break the bank and where their Potato Gratan is what all potatoes dream of becoming.
When I first started, I had some people confused with the check in process, giving them too many options which confused rather than clarified. That seems resolved.
The other mistake I made at the front end is making too many of our bathrooms available for use. With a pretty steady stream of guests, indicating that they could use the two bathrooms the family uses resulted in a couple 4 stars. There are 2 bathrooms allocated to our 3 Airbnb rooms and I have definitely found limiting guests to these more manageable. Learning all the time how to improve the experience for the guests! And meeting amazing people in the process!
