New to the Community Center? Introduce yourself here โ€Œ๐Ÿ‘‡

Hello everyone! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Welcome to the Community Center! ๐Ÿ‘‹  I'm @Elisa , one of the Community Managers for our English Community Center along with my lovely team members @Quincy @Paula @Rebecca @Bhumika @Alex @Emilie and we are thrilled to have you join us.

Let's kickstart this thread with a little about us Community Managers:

@Quincy : I'm from the Netherlands ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ I have been on the Community Center for 7+ years, and have been an Airbnb Host myself. I love cycling๐Ÿšฒ, playing footballโšฝ, and travelling๐ŸŒ . I love how dynamic and diverse the Community Center is as we meet Hosts from all around the globe.

@Bhumika  ๐ŸŒ I was born in Gujarat, India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ , and shifted to Toronto, Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ last year! ๐Ÿ“ท I recently realized my love for photography and aesthetics. I love to capture mundane life and candid pictures. ๐ŸŒ† When I'm not working, you'll find me binge-watching thriller movies or exploring history.

@Paula : I am from Colombia ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ด and currently living in British Columbia, Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ. I have a passion for Latin American culture (I love to dance ๐Ÿ’ƒ) . I've had the opportunity to visit around 20 countries ๐ŸŒŽ and plan to visit many more. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially mountain biking ๐Ÿšฒ and hiking ๐Ÿ”.

@Rebecca : I'm from Cardiff in Wales originally but being a military child and a veterans spouse, I've travelled and lived in a lot of different places in the UK and Europe. I'm an environmentalist ๐ŸŒฟ and like to minimise my impact on the planet ๐ŸŒŽ as well as volunteering in my local community.  I love sea swimming ๐ŸŒŠ yoga on the beach ๐Ÿง˜โ€ and I'm a children's yoga instructor too! ๐Ÿ™Œ

@Elisa : I was born in Italy ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น and as a lover of unique experiencesโ€”from exploring the streets of Rome๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น , Paris ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท, and Toronto ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ to appreciating timeless art and cuisineโ€”I'm here to blend the old with the new.

@Alex : I'm originally from Spain ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ, but my passion for traveling made me move to Toronto๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ this year to explore the culture and add another unforgettable experience to my journey โœˆ๏ธ. I'm also passionate about all kinds of sports โšฝ๏ธ (especially football, in which I played at a semi-professional level) and love to discover new dishes everywhere I go. ๐Ÿฅ˜

@Emilie : I was born in France ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท, raised in French Polynesia ๐ŸŒบ and Morocco ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ, and have settled in the UK for 14 years now! On evenings and weekends, you will find me spending time with my dog, working on a jigsaw, or trying my hand at some new cuisine. ๐Ÿฒ

Now it's your turn! Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? And is there something special about the location of your accommodation that you'd like to share?

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Warm regards๐ŸŒป,

Elisa

Hello, I'm Mori from Korea. I always have a dream to live other countries and host travelers who visited my place. I loved to travel many countries, but I couldn't travel a lot these days. I hope I visit other countries next year than this year. ๐Ÿ˜

I live in the heart of Louisville, KYโ€”home of the Kentucky Derby, world-class bourbon, and way more cool stuff than people expect. Iโ€™m always up for an adventure, whether itโ€™s traveling somewhere new or sweating it out in a hot yoga class. But one of my favorite things is hosting friends here in Louisville and showing off our cityโ€™s hidden gemsโ€”like quirky neighborhoods, local eats, and of course, stops along the Bourbon Trail. If you havenโ€™t experienced the magic of Derby season or sipped bourbon where it was bornโ€ฆ youโ€™re seriously missing out!

Hi @Tiara58

I had the privilege of visiting Louisville about two weeks ago! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ My friends and I planned a road trip, and one of our stops was Louisville. We loved it! Itโ€™s such a great city with so much history, and the musical background made it extra special. I didnโ€™t know that Jack Harlow was from there, same with Muhammad Ali! Are there any spots I might have missed or that I should visit next time? ๐Ÿก

Hi, All!

We live in central Illinois, not the most exciting place on the planet, and are surrounded by cornfields.  However, there are two universities in our little city and a lovely bit of history.  We live on a cobblestone street in the heart of town with a half acre and a 150-year old home.  Having been a historic site manager in the past, I know how much people love to engage with these old dames and having 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, it seemed like a logical thing to do to offer a few rooms for rent.  We started just about 9 months ago and, all in all, are enjoying meeting all the delightful people who come through on a regular basis.

Hello @Amy3613 ๐Ÿ‘‹

Your place sounds brilliant. I love a cobblestone street (just not with high heels on!), lots of history, and that 150-year-old house must have loads of vintage charm. ๐Ÿ˜ Are there any favourite spots in town that your guests always seem to enjoy?

Congratulations on achieving Superhost status in your first 9 months - that's a testament to your hard work and dedication to hosting!

@Rebecca I love the guidebook option in the platform.  While I list a variety of options, I always ask guests if they have plans for the evening, gauging if they would like a recommendation.  Most do and, then, I push my favorite, a farm to table restaurant which doesn't break the bank and where their Potato Gratan is what all potatoes dream of becoming.

When I first started, I had some people confused with the check in process, giving them too many options which confused rather than clarified.  That seems resolved.

The other mistake I made at the front end is making too many of our bathrooms available for use.  With a pretty steady stream of guests, indicating that they could use the two bathrooms the family uses resulted in a couple 4 stars.  There are 2 bathrooms allocated to our 3 Airbnb rooms and I have definitely found limiting guests to these more manageable.  Learning all the time how to improve the experience for the guests!  And meeting amazing people in the process!
