Please review youR new protocol!!!! This day in will be detrimental to guests in our area of Prescott AZ!! Our home is cleaned according to every protocol, high touch areas, soft furniture, linens, self-check-in..etc. Having to loose a night of income in addition to paying our housekeepers more in time to complete...we cannot raise our rates, we must stay in line with comparable homes!!! Perhaps allow the guests make the decision and acknowledge on your website that they know and accept the property may have had a guest in a turn-around situation, let it be the guests choice!!!!
Where are you seeing that hosts must have a blocked day in between guests?
I'm not sure Airbnb is blocking before/after dates, I agree it should be up to the host, but will add, that it seems to me the easiest way to increase everyone's safety, we do it to protect ourselves, so other than a quick damage assessment after guests leave, we can leave the apartment vacant and not start cleaning until a day, or almost a day, has passed.
I have blocked a day between bookings since the advent of Covid as it is the only way I can ensure enough time to complete the cleaning required.
Yes we do lose some income @Erica354 but businesses around the world are losing income during Covid and some have had to close completely. In the current climate I count STR businesses as fortunate that we can still continue to run our STR businesses.
