The NEW COVID protocol and our requirement to agree.

The NEW COVID protocol and our requirement to agree.

REGARDLESS of which statistics we believe about COVID , there are some things I find very strange about the requirement to agree to the new protocol.

Does no one else find it weird that  Airbnb assumes agreement?

There is no guidance for what to do if you don't wish to agree. No acknowledgement that for all kinds of reasons, regardless of Covid, following the new protocol could be simply impractical or psychologically invasive. The new cleaning regime sounds to be extremely time consuming and really not worth the m money I make through airbnb. Also I have a practice of using ecologically friendly cleaning materials, which has always appealed to my guests. I won't be having toxic and expensive cleaning materials in my house. Above all, for various personal reasons, I will not be having masked strangers in my home, nor masking myself.

In addition to having personal reasons for this, the World Health Organisation has recently stated people should only be masking if they are sick or caring for the sick as there is no evidence it helps, and also a world shortage of masks. When we are masking needlessly, we are using masks that should be available to frontline workers, they have said.

But enough about Covid politics.

This can not surprise Airbnb, that some people would feel this way. So why is there no clarity around whether to delete or snooze the listing? Why is there no clarity around what Airbnb is looking for to drop the restrictions? No acknowledgement of a different possibility?

it is unbusinesslike. It is us that make the money for Airbnb, and they have no authority over us. But it is presented as though we will only choose one choice.

It is the behaviour of hostage takers, of psychological manipulation. I understand it is triggering for people for me to say that. But it's true.

I am happy to leave Airbnb in this situation, as they have managed it in this way.

It is weird that you continue to refer to the WHO incorrectly. Luckily here more cautiously than your other comments which should be deleted immediately. Although the WHO has sometimes changed its advices about the use of masks and produced many documents, you make dangerous mixtures. Look at this link. https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public/when-and-how-to-us....

It is clearly written:

"If COVID-19 is spreading in your community, stay safe by taking some simple precautions, such as physical distancing, wearing a mask, keeping rooms well ventilated, avoiding crowds, cleaning your hands, and coughing into a bent elbow or tissue. Check local advice where you live and work. Do it all!.

Make wearing a mask a normal part of being around other people."
