What is the weirdest Guest Complaint you have had?

As hosts, a big portion of our job is communicating with guests and meeting their needs.  We all receive requests that seem rather unusual, and I would love to know what your weirdest request or complaint has been?

Recently, someone complained that our toilet seat wasn't comfortable enough...... It is just the standard one out there on the home depot market....

We just had a guest complain that the bathroom floor became very wet when she left the velux window open during a rain storm!

Another host reported that a guest complained that the bowls and mugs were too large.

Possibly they were very small people?

@Brian2036 When I just stayed with my daughter in Canada, she favors those huge mugs that I hate because the coffee goes cold in them before I can drink it all. I just went to the second hand store and found a mug I liked.

@Sarah977   Just curious Sarah. Which part of Canada does your daughter live in?

@Willene1  Vancouver Island, where I lived for 25 years. Another lives just north of Ottawa, but I didn't get out to see her this trip.

We had a guest who was confused by glass coffee mugs. We have whole bean coffee, a coffee bean grinder, a coffee maker, & even ground coffee but the glass coffee mugs threw her off so she didn’t think we had anything to drink coffee from.

This is the same guest who wished we would have had another blanket, even though she “didn’t need it.” She saw the vacuum packed blanket in the closet but didn’t want to open it because  it might not have been the thickness she wanted.

"The roads are too narrow".

@Mike-And-Helen0  This reminds me of: “there was traffic on the way, checkin should be at a time when there isn’t traffic”

@Kelly149 Haha or "You should reduce the traffic at check-in time"

In Austin?! They would never get in?

@Beth4390  Exactly. They came bc austin is a big vibrant city but then were upset that other folks had the same idea.
yankees who think tx is all fields full of cowboys & horses, absent the big city traffic of “real” cities.

@Mike-And-Helen0

You’re not the only ones with that problem.

I have been urged to pave the half mile of private road that goes to our log cabin.

I actually got an estimate about 10 years ago.

$300,000.

Hey, I could double my rental price and break even in just 30 years! It would also encourage more patronage from grotesquely ignorant city dwellers with miniature cars!

I think I’ll pass.

You would  still have to teach them to reverse... @Brian2036

Many years ago when I was raising purebred South Devon cattle, a tenant asked me suspiciously, “Why do you have ‘matching cows?’”

I attempted an impromptu explanation of selective breeding and she interrupted with, “Well, the ranch would be much more appealing with a little diversity.”

Sigh.

I’m glad we didn’t have to get into the incest angle. . .
