Our hot tub in Venice
most of the guests in my Venice home are couples, some of them honeymooners ... maybe because Venice is the most romantic city in the world? 😍
Andrea
Ahhh....there is that lovely hot tub again @Andrea6232. Fine, I give in! I'll get the husband to book a trip over to you soon!!! 😅
Bonjour, ce sont plutot des familles qui viennent à Disney ou sur Paris.

Hello, it's mostly families who come to Disney or Paris.
Hello @Bakhta1,
That's a wonderful attraction for guests. Do you have people all year round or mostly during the school holidays and things like that?
Hey Rebecca! 👋
Great question! At BlueOak Residences, we get a nice mix — mostly families in town for weddings or holidays, business travelers who like the quiet setup and fast Wi-Fi, and every now and then, a few public figures too. Always fun meeting new people from all over!
Cheers,
Raheel
BlueOak Residences
Hello Raheel (@BlueOak0) 👋
Absolutely, it really is! 😊
Sometimes I do get the chance to meet our guests, which is always lovely but most of the time, our friendly caretaker is the one who helps them with check-in. We also offer self check-in for those who prefer privacy or are arriving late. It really depends on what the guest is most comfortable with, we just try to take their lead and make things as easy as possible for them.
@Rebecca
We really have a mix here, work related visits, visiting family or friends, attending a wedding, visiting the area, moving to the area, passing through, anniversary celebrations, stop off for the cruise to Alaska, attending a seminar/workshop, attending a concert/event. We have hosted couples, singles, families, young families with infants, toddlers, elderly parents visiting grandkids. Many guests use the transition feature too. It’s amazing how many languages Airbnb has on their platform.
Hello @Lorina14 👋
We get a fair few grandparents visiting their children, visiting professors attending lectures, traveling professionals who need to stay connected to high-speed internet to work, and quite a few tourists visiting the city, because we are located in a prime spot.
Our favorites, however, are those who choose us because they have severe allergies or immunological disorders. We know first hand that it is incredibly difficult for travelers to find truly scent-free/animal dander-free/hypoallergenic environments to stay in, and our guests are always so increadably grateful to find that truly everything in the flat, right down to the detergent we use to wash the sheets, the soaps/hairproducts/lotions, and even the dishwasher detergent, are 100% scent free and hypoallergenic.
We lose a few guests to other listings for being scent-free, but having it as an option for those who need it is really quite fulfilling.
I do wish there were a way for guests to specifically search on Airbnb for hypoallergenic flats. My wife has a serious immunological disorder herself, and finding an accommodation when traveling is always incredibly difficult and time-consuming for us. I know there are others with flats like ours out there, but it takes a great deal of luck to find them when traveling.
Hi @Micha7196 😊,
Thank you for sharing this here!
It’s really interesting how you approach the guest experience. What inspired you to create a scent-free, animal dander-free, hypoallergenic environment for your listing?
Warm regards 🌻,

Hi @Elisa ,
I don't know if you saw the video currently on Airbnb with the host who is in a wheelchair herself, who really understands the needs of other travelers who are in a wheelchair, but that video pretty much sums it up; except in our case, my wife has a serious immunological disorder.
I've seen statistics that suggest around 30% of the US population have some level of fragrance sensitivity or allergy, and somewhere between 10-20% of the world population is allergic to cats and/or dogs. Many of them also have contact allergies to the non-hypoallergenic detergents that most hosts use to wash their towels and sheets, and they end up with rashes or hives whenever they travel.
Not all of them have conditions as severe as my wife's, but all of them appreciate and physically benefit from hypoallergenic accommodations. Even if you look at the review of our accommodation that was posted just today, the guest calls us out as the first truly scent-free accommodation she's ever found to stay in, and because of that, she'll always stay with us in the future.
It's a huge unmet need on Airbnb. Unfortunatly, despite the clear statistical support to do so, there is currently no way to filter accommodations when searching on Airbnb for "Hypoallergenic" , "scent-free", or "no pets". That currently makes it really hard for people like my wife to find hypoallergenic accommodations, even if they are available, but for us it's worth doing it for the people who find us. It's already really difficult for people with immunological conditions and severe allergies to travel, so we take some joy in making it a bit easier on them.
Cheers!
Micha
PS. Having some titanium in my own spine, we also feel the same way about excellent mattresses for people with bad backs. I intentionally went with two different firmnesses of high-end mattresses in the two bedrooms, so that there is a choice of firmness. We get a lot of compliments for that choice as well.
In the end, it's all about empathy. 🙂
Hi @Micha7196 😊,
Thank you so much for sharing this with me!
You’re definitely right, empathy is key in life to truly connect with others. What you’re doing with your listing and as a host is absolutely appreciated.
