City of Toronto: Final Short-term Rental Regulation Survey

As the City of Toronto finalize their proposed regulations on short-term rentals, another round of public consultations & surveys are underway. A new online survey launched yesterday. The survey focuses on questioning the right to not only share your primary residence, but also a secondary suite/home, nightly caps (i.e. how many times per year hosts are allowed to have a guest), and costs on registering with the City. Please take 5 minutes to complete and SHARE YOUR VOICE.

 

The input that you provide will inform the final recommendations that staff will report to City Council in the fourth quarter of 2017. City staff will vote in the Fall 2017 with regulation implementations shortly after.

  1. Hosts in ICE 1 and ICE 2 condominiums at 12 and 14 York street , there are emerging dictotorial tendencies and manupilations amounting to abuse of Statutory powers conferred upon the board by the condominium act of 1998. It is now clear that the condo board issued letters/ notices on the 6th July,2017 to condo owners that the board would repeal regulations and it is that same very day the notice was issued that the regulations would come into effect as stated in paragraph two of the notice. 
  2. In the same notice , the board stated that if the owners want to hold a meeting and vote, on the rules designed by the board, they had 30 days from the day of the notice to requisition for a meeting from the same board that has prepared the rules.
  3. This contradictory letter confirms undemocratic tendencies of the board to dictate to the owners/Hosts.
  4. Some of the dictotorial rules is intende to make it impossible to host and in this case Airbnb is the major focus in the whole scenario
  5. Airbnb Hosts/Owners why are you turning a blind eye ???
  6. I suggest we need to come together urgently as Airbnb hosts and fight for our rights . We are the owners and management is taking advantage of our weak points to throw out of this business 
  7. Airbnb hosts in ICE condos please get back on this urgent matter as soon as you can.
