I'm curious what you think of this amenity:
A service that brings barbers to your home for your guest during their stay. The process would be mess-free with the help of a disposable mat that is placed under their chair and all that would be required is a chair.
The idea is that your guests may not want to spend their time on vacation/work, to make an appointment and get a haircut at a barbershop. Luxury hotels often provide on-site barbers, to increase their guest's experience (similar to the massage services they offer). Maybe this could be something you can offer that could provide a unique experience to your guest during their stay.
Would you share this service with your guests during their stay? (direct message me if you're interested!)
Thanks for your suggestion! Unfortunately, services don't qualify as a Airbnb Experience. I think with experiences they're looking for is something like an outdoor activity.
Then again maybe the fact that this amenity would be beyond the typical expectation, is what would make this service valuable?
Experiences can be indoors as well, such us gigs, workshops, etc.
You could invent some crazy haircuts and offer as an art-experience.
You could also hold workshops about haircut or on how to learn to be a self-barber, meaning, how to make your self-haircut!
I believe people will not do it to become your competitor, but just out of curiosity and for fun.
I was just filling out the experiences application and noticed that it specifically listed "Services (e.g. massages etc)" as an uneligible service. Sadly, I feel most will actually need a haircut vs want to learn about them, but I like the way you're thinking. Perhaps I can put a spin on this...
If it is possible for you, i think that like this amenity depend on guests and what they want and barbers if they came to a house, they could be more expensive. And if a host is a barber, it would be good.
Hey there, what an interesting idea. I reckon business could be generated if the haircut is offerred via the hosts so the appointments can be an ad on when considering and finalizing a booking. After booking your business details can be shared with the guest who could make the appointment scheduling directly with you. The host could get a small fee for promotions and you could gain visibility whether booked or not by simply being present in the listing view. Search letBlu and message via our site. It's a really interesting idea.
I'd be willing to try it..Let me know Blu at LetBlu
I have also thought about this!! I currently ask my guests, sort of like a poll, what services they would like to have.
I am in a very rural town but we still have things to do nearby. But one service that I thought would be SUPER HELPFUL would be a nanny service. You want to take the kids on vacation but you want to be able to vacation too. and sometimes we all need a small break. With a nanny service offered, they could be on-site but the parents would get some vacay time too.
I also thought about Priv. They do nails, hair, makeup. We have TONS of weddings around here and I get a lot fo guests that are staying with us nearby, so offering those kinds of services to come to you as a guest where you are staying would be top notch in my opinion.
Everybody I mention it to though either thinks its dumb or would never work. I even reached out to a massage therapist to see if I would be able to use her as a tester and she said no because it wouldnt be worth her time to pack up her table and all that and then set it up and take it down. Basically it would be too much work. Thoughts?
