Has anyone heard if Airbnb is going to require listings to submit their registration information in order to operate starting in July? I'm hesitant to take reservations for July and forward because of all the changes happening.
Thanks for any insight!
PASS IT ON AND RSVP BELOW. THIS IS THE LAST CHANCE YOUR VOICE WILL BE HEARD!
Vrbo Partners and Friends,
Thank you for your patience over the last few weeks as we all wait for the Planning and Land Use Committee (PLUM) to hold a hearing on a secondary, whole home vacation rental ordinance.
We are working with stakeholders across the city to encourage the completion of the report and draft ordinance as soon as possible. When the draft regulations are ready, we have been informed that a hearing will be held before one of two bodies, either the PLUM Committee or the City Planning Commission. Whichever entity moves forward first with its hearing, it will be important for supporters of vacation rentals to show up and make their voices heard.
The LA City Council’s constant delays, rescheduling of meetings, and general disregard for the rights of whole home vacation rental owners, managers, and the small businesses that depend on the industry is unacceptable. City Hall must be held to account – together we must fight to ensure that secondary homeowners are not left behind.
Without the ability to rent a secondary home, many of our owners and managers would be out of business and forced to find a new line of work. Together, we can make sure the City passes a fair vacation rental ordinance that permits traditional, whole-home vacation rentals and allows the vacation rental industry to responsibly grow in the years ahead.
Our allies at the Los Angeles Vacation Home Rental Alliance will be hosting a Happy Hour event to update owners and property managers on the state of play as the July 1st deadline rapidly approaches. I will be there to deliver a legislative update and I urge all of you to come out and make your voice heard at this final push before July 1st as we continue fighting to protect short-term rentals and vacation home rentals.
Below are the details. We truly hope you can make it and we look forward to seeing you.
When: Wednesday, June 26th from 6 to 8 p.m.
What: Hors d’ oeuvres and drinks
Where: Desert Rose - 1700 North Hillhurst Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027
What are you guys waiting for an Invitation?????? You Better go get registered the fine is like $7500 if you are caught hosting without a valid permit. All these people acting like they dont know. Blame yourselves if you get fined. The writing has been on the wall for 6 months already dont expect for AirBnb to tell you anything, Ignorance is no defense. Also dont expect for your neighbors to tell you, there will be plenty of anti-vacation rental people going around watching for people with suitcases and then referring them to the city whether or not they are registered.
Hi Nina. Thanks for the input. Not sure why your tone is so intense. Simply asking a question. Perhaps I misinterpreted. Sorry if so.
Do you mind me asking how you were able to register 9 different properties? I was under the impression that one of the major points about the new ordinance was that you could only run a rental out of your primary residence.
Anyway, what I was really asking in my original post (but poorly worded) was if anyone knows if Airbnb itself will be taking listings down that don't submit a reg # to them. I know this is how it has gone in certain other cities.
wow. please tell me how to register? I couldnt find anyway to register. since you look like a smart ass, please advice where is the offical place to register.
Honestly, I would like to register and get this done asap.
Hi, Tracey and Bryan!
How’s it going? I’ve been involved with the council meetups and I’ve chatted with the AirBnb Community Leader about all of this often. The city council, last I heard, didn’t know how to ask hosts to register and haven’t put anything in place yet to have hosts actually register. As in...they put something into place and then realized they didn’t know how to enforce it or get it moving. Government/bureaucracy, amirite?! I digress. Cynthia Chou was one of the AirBnb leaders you can speak to about all of this:: 323.205.6759
Best of love and luck to you!
Aw. Thank you!
You tooooo! I love me some Venice!
Here’s Cynthia’s email, it may be easier to set up a call via email first I’ve noticed.
Cheers and Happy Monday to you!
Hi there! Yes there is an motion to amend specifics on registering and a roll out of education for all hosts. This has not been put in place. Cynthia is a great contact, but also feel free to contact Airbnb support. They are walking hosts through this process. I’ll check back with any new updates.
