Hi friends,
After two years of zero significant issues, I am finding it nearly impossible to get paid by AirBnB.
Starting in May (we are seasonal) AirBnB has sent just three payments for guests. None of these payments has been for over 1,000$.
Currently they have paid me once in May (615.07), once in June for damage (246.72), and twice in July (960.30) and (961.27).
Currently outstanding are another $6,469.95 worth of guest stays that just don't seem to work.
What is happening:
Payment says processing. Payment says on hold. Payment says processing. Payment says paused.
I have one payment of $2,902.32 that has 'sent' - except my bank sees nothing at all to suggest airbnb even tried to deposit money before the "bank reversal" occurred. TD says it is not possible for AirBnB to have attempted a deposit that TD rejected and there to be no visible evidence of that.
What support is saying:
There was an error processing the transaction.
Change your payment from paypal to your bank.
Verify you bank account.
Verify your paypal account (but some payments are going through? No. verify it anyways)
Make paypal your default account. It is.
Make your bank account your default. Didn't work.
Must be the bank account, change to another bank account.
It's an internal issue and they're working on it.
The engineers are aware of the issue and are working on it.
Call paypal.
Call your bank.
You need to set a payment method - I've had one for three years, so...?
I have contacted AirBNB by messages at least 11 times. At least once by phone.
I have also contacted paypal, after airbnb told me it was a paypal issue.
I have also contacted TD, after airbnb told me it was my bank's fault.
This is now as of July 22, 2024. This has been ongoing since May 14, 2024 when my first payment didn't come through.
I'll update as the summer continues, as I suspect the issues will remain. I know others have and are experiencing something similar and want to log this so you don't think it's you. It's not.
Natalie
Stop taking further bookings from Airbnb until resolved . Take them to small claims court @Emma4037
It may well have to come to that @Helen3 ! I have asked for the arbitration details and the address for if I need to make a claim - but I am of course hoping they sort it before then.
Do they have an arbitration scheme for non payment @Emma4037
you can find their London HQ address online to serve them with small claims papers
Arbitration for dispute. Small claims location depends on the ToCs for each host I think. I haven't got that far yet, hoping I dont have to!
When this starts to happen in a massive company like Air B&B you know there is something that needs to be investigated. I have come across many threads of non-payment. All similar responses from Air B&B and an unwillingness to provide any information.
Air B&B is in trouble. Mark my words. This is a much bigger issue. And soon it will all come to surface.
I agree with this. Someone needs to look into what Air B&B are doing here. It is clearly being done purposely because they don’t have the cash flow to pay clients.
Remember Air B&B get paid as soon as your host books. They only have to pay you when the guest checks in. Air B&B are either spending the money and unable to pay hosts or they profiting from holding it and earning interest.
How can we get someone to investigate this for us as anyone from Air B&B are unreachable. The support team is an outsourced business unrelated to Air B&B and have zero access to any information. Essentially they are useless to hosts and can really only resolve guest issues.
somebody please help I really need to be paid.
Hi Natalie,
sorry to read this. Have you been paid yet? I hope you have been!
I have the same problem of not being paid for almost 2 months now (since 7th Nov 2024).
Exactly the same response from Airbnb. I have been asked to re-enter the same default account 3 times (no problem with that account for airbnb to payout my earnings for over 6 years). My bank confirmed no problem with my account. My bank does not see any signs of Airbnb trying to transfer any funds or verification of my account.
Airbnb responses as below
re-enter the bank details
verifying bank acct
verifying tax (asked where? How? No answer)
suggested I open paypal
suggested I open pioneer (no
For sometime, Airbnb said my bank is taking the time to verify my account
when I started asking for proof of verifying my account with my bank- now Airbnb says Airbnb is taking time to verify. Then said Airbnb cannot verify this account..
Now Airbnb suggests use another bank account. Never heard of this. I can’t open a new account because Airbnb is unable to pay. My property is in India and the bank as well. I cannot open an account in another bank in India while I live in the UK. And most importantly I don’t want up open another account- this is silly.
I asked Airbnb if they can cancel my future bookings (and should not cost me or the guest andy cancellation fee) as I will not be able to sustain any longer ( I just did my taxes etc) and with unpaid 2 months earnings (paying staff and maintenance for 2 months, my funds are now short) I am exhausted. Airbnb answered if I cancel, I will be charged penalties.
I have shared some social media links where Airbnb hosts have expressed the same problems and asked Airbnb for their feedback and why this is happening. Completely ignoring this question.
Please help.
Thank you
Hello, did you get this resolved? We are starting to having this issue.
Hi Natalie,
I have had the exact same issue. At first they paused payments to some documentation they hadn’t received. I sent through everything on request. It took three months and many phone calls before it was sorted. I then received emails to say payments were sent but nothing ever came into my bank account. They asked me to delete account details and add again. I did so and still nothing. It now says delete and add again.
I have called so many times and no one will give me an answer. The useless support team only say that a Specialist will get in contact with you.
I really think Air B&B is in serious trouble and unable to pay hosts. All hosts should be aware of this and use another platform.
Air B&B are essentially stealing our money. There needs to be mass action against them.
