Hi everyone - I need to find guests for my room fast, but AirBNB is not allowing me to charge less than $10 per night.
When I try to go into the calendar to reduce the price, I get this error message : "Your price is too low. Your minimum price must be higher than $10."
It is not because of smart pricing because I have that turned off - and when I try to turn it on and set my minumum to below 10 I get the same error message!
Can someone please help me with this riduclouslness? Why is AirBNB hurting my business/livelihood by forcing me to set an artifically high price?

@Mitch8 I think you need to contact AirBNB. $10 might be the limit for now. I see your $13 right now so I'd recommend the 10.
I did take a look at your listing and woudl highly recommend improving your photos and gettin some additional verifications. Although I'm sure the political climate in Turkey may have something to do with it.
Your photos are of low quality and poor lighting and the cover photo in particular is grainy when viewed as full page banner on your listing. I would also tidy up (beer bottles, bins and such so they are in the pictures) and try to have better lighting. Airbnb has a great guide to photos that you may want to reference - http://blog.airbnb.com/top-5-photo-tips-for-a-stellar-listing/

You are excpecting something ridiculous from Airbnb! They are an excellent hardest company and deserve to make more than 2$ for the effort they provide you! If your room is worth only 10 $ its not a great endorsement. Go to another website!
"Go to another website!"
I love it, Wendy. 🙂

Mitch, It appears you are trying to get some income to offset your expenses while you are away. I wonder if you really want to deal with individual one night stays over the month. Wouldn't it work better for you to have a single renter for a month? In that case, you would be better off to post at a University or some site that caters to young travelers.
Hello folks, is there a link to this $10 minimum policy?
I'm considering hosting friends that I don't want to charge, but I want to use the tools that are built into airbnb's site and app. I could just block the dates out for my friends, but I want them to be able to reference the app for check-in instructions, pictures, calendar and ability to make adjustments to their itinerary and I want to be able to utilize the reminders I get as a host to communicate important info to them.
Thanks
There is no way to do what you are asking within the AirBnB app without charging your guests. What you are looking for would be a stand alone program. You would be better off searching for a free app that would do what you are asking. Sorry, but AirBnB isn't it.
@Crystal0, you might want to have them book through AIrBnB and then reimburse them the accommodation fees. They (or you) would still have to pay AirBnB's fee, though.
Hey @Crystal85 , we were wanting to do the same thing, even if at a very minimal cost 🙂 Did you end up figuring it out?
Hi @Mitch8 ,
I looked at your listing, but saw no dates available in 2018 (?)
Description says you are looking for a long-term-tennant for the summer.
So why not put in the min. rate and provide a generous weekly or monthly discount !
Best regards,Emiel
Emeil, Mitch posted that comment in August 2016!
It is a fair bet that by now he has possibly achieved his doctorate in 'animal science'....... has re-taken up trumpet playing with that 'Dixieland' band back in his old town of New Orleans in his spare time, and is probably at this moment, as it is summer time in the southern hemisphere, in Antartica studying the mating habits of the Emperor penguin.
I know these threads are interesting but you do have to remember many of them go back a long way.
New Islands have formed in the Caribbean (just ask Fred) since Mitch made that post, so is maybe wise Emiel to have a look at the timeline of a thread before making a comment, even though, it is a good comment!
I am not trying to sound a smarta*se here Emiel, but these threads get so clogged up and disjointed now that they are becoming hard to follow!
Cheers.....Rob
Hi @Robin0,
Thanks for pointing this out, i now see somebody restarted the discussion recently again in this thread. Will put my glasses on next time !
Kind regards, Emiel
