when i embed the listing into my website, the url shows up as https://www.airbnb.com/room/{room} rather than what it should be https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/{room}
Are you trying to embed/paste a link on your Airbnb listing? If so, that is not possible.
If you are trying to do this on an outside website, that is different. The link should work properly there.
I copy the code provided on airbnb and then add it to my homepage. It has been working great util 1-2 weeks ago when it stopped working.
If you visit my page: https://pomonadalen.se/pomonalangan and scroll down a bit you see the embedded code and preview of my house for rent. The problem is that when you click on it you end up on an errorpage.
I don't understand why but if visitors click the preview (provided by the html code thats embedded) they end up on this dead link: https://www.airbnb.se/room/10539130
if I put one more letter into that adress it's working(https://www.airbnb.se/rooms/10539130 only an "s" is added)
"rooms" not room is the correct word in the string. Not sure if there are issues on your webpage coding.
As I mentioned, you can also create the custom link on Airbnb and use that instead of the "rooms" string. The custom code might work on your webpage.
I cant create a custom code for embedded content.
Rooms is correct BUT the problem is that visitors clicking on the embedded contet/preview is directed to the adress: https://www.airbnb.se/room/10539130 and that's the problem.
I have talked to customer service and they saw that there was a problem and hopefully they can solve the problem. I don't have problems on my webpage, it's a problem in the HTML-code provided by Airbnb to embed on my website.
Got it...
I don't understand website building for sure, but why can't you paste a link on your webpage? Is that not possible? Also, if you create a QR code with the proper "rooms" URL link, wouldn't that work?
Linking to Airbnb is not a problem. What I want to provide my visitors with is a preview of my listing on Airbnb. It has worked for many months but just recently stopped working. To show a preview with photos, rating and name of the house Airbnb provide a HTML code that should be pasted into the code on websites. Something has been altered in the script from airbnb so that the people clicking on my preview-ad ends up on a 404 page. Copy and click this link and paste it in your browser.
It will then show you what the Preview looks like. if you try to click it you notice what I mean.
Thanks...I understand a bit more now. So you are using a widget?

Weird that it was working then stopped. I do see the "embeddable" in the string and not the actual "rooms" string.
Airbnb used to have a marketing page for Hosts under Professional Hosting Tools in Account Settings, but stopped providing that awhile back. Is that where you got the embed code? If so, Airbnb may have simply changed "Rooms" to "Room" to ensure the embed code no longer functions on external websites. Instead of a "bug" this may be deliberate on the part of Airbnb.
I don't think its deliberatly made. It prevents customers from being directed to airbnb. It's not a widget provided by wordpress where I have my homepage but a set of code with a script created by Airbnb. I have been in contact with customer service and hope they can find a solution to the problem.
The code is copied from my airbnb page so it's not for companies only but for anyone with a listing on airbnb.
You explained this very well! What I have said repeatedly to Airbnb Support is to get a developer to look at the code because this definitely worked up until a few weeks ago, which leads me to believe something broke in the code. Since they offer the Embed option on their platform, it needs to work properly - this is a very standard thing in the world of websites, and should be fixable. Perhaps more of us need to continue to complain?
We are having the same problem with the embedded link that started yesterday....with the same problem of "room" or " rooms". We have recopied the embed/insert code added back to webpage...when looking at the coding it is showing the proper " rooms" live it is also showing "rooms" but when talking with tech support at Airbnb and he downloads the same page it is showing just "room" and redirects to a oops 404 page. Is it possible this is a cache problem on world servers? We are hosted with IONOS and are browsing this page in Mexico with the same incorrect link " room" but 100% correct on the server ...any help would be appreciated.
I put the embedded content in it's own frame to be able to read all of the code (can be seen here: https://www.airbnb.se/embeddable/home?externalPageUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fpomonadalen.se%2Fpomonalangan&hid... )
When I opened the whole code for the embedded content I found this on line 68:
"viewOnAirbnbLink":"https://www.airbnb.se/room/10539130","serverHost":"www.airbnb.se","phrases":{"html_embed_view_on_airbnb":"Visa på Airbnb"
So there is a problem in the code but can't be seen in the HTML-code that we as users copy and paste to embed content. Here is clearly redirects to "room" instead of "rooms".
Do you think Airbnb is aware of the problem? What did you do to fix it on your website?
I have been in contact with customer support. First they were sure that it had to do with problems on my own webpage. I have tried to send them all the links and screenshots they need to fix the problem but the person I've been talking to doen't seem to understand the issue... I hope the information reaches somone that DOES know coding and that can help fix the problem. I think it would help if more people would contact them and tell them about the problem. I haven't been able to fix it so now I just have a link to airbnb from my homepage. I'm sure the visitors are more likely to click on the embedded content after being able to see photos etc. so I hope the problem will be solved.
