Airbnb Toronto taxes and hosting

Hello, I'm looking for an answer to this and if anyone has done it before.

As you know in Toronto Airbnb has a 180 day limit for principal full house Airbnb rental and no day limit for 3 rooms max of your  principal property

I am currently living in my principal residence in Toronto and hosting 3 rooms. I rent to my family who also lives here as their principal residence. **** Can they also host 3 rooms?***

Taxwise, what are they allowed to deduct?

I can deduct more expenses than them obviously such as mortgage interest etc..

Thank you for your help Airbnb community!

1. Not quite sure what you are trying to achieve here...are you trying to get around the 180 day limit??? My instinct would be that's a no, unless of course you have nine bedrooms that you want to STR in your residence.  IF that is the case,  you could each have three listings for the 180 days,  but check with whoever has issued the STR regulations

2. You would need to check with your local tax office

Have you been able to find any information regarding this?

Although they may not be in Toronto, the Community does have some experienced Hosts who might be able to share some input about your idea.  @Helen3 @Kia272
