I have a flashback to my youth!
Hello 90s!
What the hell is THIS???!!
And did I miss that Airbnb started to offer sexual services?
Hi @Alex6513,
Thanks for sharing your concern — I can definitely understand your surprise and confusion! If what you're seeing on the platform looks outdated or inappropriate, it might be a glitch, mistranslation, or possibly a display error caused by a bug in the latest update.
As for the second part of your message — if any content you saw appeared to promote something against Airbnb's policies (such as sexual services), that would absolutely violate the Community Guidelines and Content Policy. Airbnb does not allow listings, language, or media that are inappropriate, adult in nature, or misleading.
What to do next:
Report it immediately: Use the three-dot menu ("...") next to the listing or content and click “Report” to flag it for Airbnb’s content moderation team.
Clear your cache or try another device/browser: Sometimes updates can cause temporary visual issues that don’t reflect actual listing content.
Contact Airbnb Support directly if you're concerned it might be something more serious or you keep seeing this issue.
You're not alone — sometimes platform updates can come with unexpected bugs or strange formatting. It’s always a good move to raise it like you did.
Let’s keep the community professional, respectful, and fun — even when the 90s come flashing back unexpectedly!
1) It's definitely not a glitch, mistranslation, or possibly a display error 🙂 it's the same on all browsers and mobile app, those icons just look like from 90's, really weird.
2) I know how to report, if needed, I just refer to first-impression which homepage had provided to me. And it's not very good impression.
I am in total agreement with you. I also posted my display same as your display. I agree also the attire and descriptions that title hottie taste of spend time with to me looked sexually orientated.
Hello @Alex6513
I totally agree with you!! It's horrible and yes it does look like Airbnb are moving into a different area of expertise. I expressed my concern in the post that asks for our feedback on this New Release:
So please share your thoughts too as today is the last day to comment and like as many posts as you feel relevant too - makes for an interesting read😉
I am very surprised as this new move and don't like it all especially when you realise that the default button is set to Experiences in a guest search and not Homes😡
@Elegant-Homes-Retreat0 - please go onto the airbnb page as a guest and you'll see what Alex and I are referring to!
@Joelle43
Now this explains why they've been cleaning out good hosts, deleting 5Star listings left right & centre, and giving crappy support!
They are really not giving a ****** about Hosts&Homes anymore. They've realized that experiences(especially sexual😄 as @Marie8425 says) sell ... fast.
After their insane decisions these past few weeks & months ... it finally makes sense. I'm done fighting them - time to look into other OTAs that focus on what I do best: hosting/providing great short-term rentals.
Yes, the grass isn't greener out there(& they know it) but it's still Moving On.
We would go so far as to suggest it's based on perhaps a 1950's newspaper Advertisements era with Marvin Minksy Burlesque hints, and 1980's Alan Dershowitz tour of New Zealand universities endorsing the sexualization and abuse of women being shown on Television - look that history up in archives.
Frankly we feel the use of these selected listings as what may be considered showtime and come across as sexist to be questionable in today's day and age.
Factor into account that Page 3 pinup girls were banned years ago and we do have Censorship and other regulations that still apply equally today.
Would this Advertising comply with Common Decency Advertising standards is perhaps a question we could ask ourselves and that of Airbnb.
Change the image to that of say Hugh Hefner, or that of Marlene Dietrich, or a person in an apron, in the first image, a woman over 80 in the second, a group of over 70's in a band, a person of a different gender over 60 in the next couple and how would it be perceived?
Where is the balance?
One can surmise that Behavior Science Groups have there fingers in the pie in the background with the use of data mining and marketing techniques.
According to information on the internet, Communications networks, this latest project cost around $200 million dollars - that's come from our funding through Service fees, endless hours trying to resolve Reviews that should be removed and that of not been paid.
As an aside, there has been a European Union Judicial decision this week on the use of Tracking in Advertising that is worthy of locating and reading.
Hello @Helen3
You don't even need to make a search Helen, it's the first thing guests see when they go onto Airbnb to start their search now😱 Try it yourself you'll see! I see this exact page for my country - it's the default first page!
It also defaults to Experiences rather than Hosting and so when you put in a search and dates it gives you the experiences for that town. So I imagine some guests won't see that they have to click on Hosting to find accommodation and will just give up and move over to Booking. Someone got paid handsomely to do this as well - it's awful I think.
