Beating the cold in Australia

Hey, I am travelling to Melbourne, Australia soon. 

I found an air bnb that is perfect but I am a bit hesitant because the place has no heating system but it has aircon that can be used for heating the room. 

I just want to know if the aircon is as good as a heating system to heat the room.

@Yu72reverse cycle air conditioning is great for keeping warm in winter and cool in summer; you can set the temperature to suit, I find 22-24 degrees to be ideal for Australian winter nights, but for a lot of people this can be too warm!
