Bookings down

Anyone else have fewer bookings than normal?  We have two holiday lets and both are currently empty, in June!

Is this a result of the new categories?   If we don't appear in them, that would explain a lot.   May be good for guests, but detrimental for hosts.

@Kate391

As you can read in this community  a lot of host are facing same issue.

Main reason is Airbnb widened the default search are and also shows more results (previously max 300)

"A week" in Barnstaple brings up 1000 results !

I can only see:

You listings are in the search system:

Emiel1_0-1655323090875.png

And your listings are assigned to the new categories: "barns" and "national parks" .

Added:

If i search for "a week"in "Landkey", it comes with 428 results, but one of your listings is on page 1  !

Thank you!

I don't understand why if someone searches for Landkey, both of our listings are not shown?

Are Airbnb aware of hosts being unhappy about bookings being so low?

They are both shown, but one is on page 1 and the other one on page 2.

You can check it yourself, performing a standard search like this:

@Emiel1   Look at the available dates in your picture!  @Kate391  Says she has availability this June, but your picture shows an available date much later than that, in 2023.  Did you enter dates?

I have availability this fall, but the first date AirBnB has shown on my blind searches is May 2023.

@Lorna170

I did not enter dates, only "flexible", "a week". I shows a sample(!) availabilty in jan-feb, but ofcourse you can choose another week from the booking calender or choose "a week" in certain month's. Which i tested for a certain month (june) and listing does show up.

So i entered some fixed dates (a week: june 16-23), and result is almost the same (only less total amount of results) , but one of @Kate391 's listing now on page 1 , even at nr 1 (!) , from 105 results found.

@Lorna170

I looked at your listing, a search for "flexible", "any week" shows the listing, sample date is feb 18-25.

Same search for selected month "november" listing shows up.

Search for fixed dates: a week november 7-14  : listings shows up:

From 1000 results your listing is on page one at nr 7  (!)

The search:

www.airbnb.com/s/Swannanoa--NC--United-States

BTW Your listing is in new categories : Chalets, Country side

Hilarious.   It’s not even remotely a chalet. It’s a 1930s wood frame cabin with a waterfall.

My bookings are noticeably down. I live in a mountain resort town where August is the most popular summer month and don't have a single reservation. I am a Superhost and was booked all last summer. ;-(

Yes! Also in Colorado, not a mt. town but I’ve had 1 booking in the last 3 weeks and I’m almost completely open for August!

I am in Cañon City, CO and have seen my AirBnB bookings go way down -- it is so different than what I have been accustomed to over the years.
