Hi. I am co-host on 2 properties on the Estate that I live on. The way the estate charges for cleaning and laundry is a flat fee for cleaning, and then a rate per bed for the laundry. My experience as a cleaner in Europe was an hourly rate for cleaning and the washing and ironing. (Whilst you are cleaning, you are doing the washing of the linen and towels, and then an hourly rate for the ironing - so I can’t understand the rate per bed on top of the hourly rate). Do any of you have suggestions or thoughts on the cleaning charges to hosts? Thanks, Kim.
Hi @Kim4860 😊,
Thank you so much for asking this great question here!
Where are you currently co-hosting?
I'm tagging a few hosts in case they'd like to help you with this: @Helen3, @Lorina14 and @Tara0.
Thank you in advance, everyone!
Warm regards 🌻,

Thanks Elisa.
Hi! I haven’t heard of that fee structure but I guess it may make sense if you have more bedrooms to clean which means more loads of laundry? Most hosts in the US charge a flat rate for cleaning. It depends on the size of your property which includes how many beds/bathrooms/hot tub/etc you may have. People average the cost over a period of time then usually pass it on to the guests. I know in Europe the electricity is higher than the US so that factors into the nightly price/fees.
What is the size and number of bedrooms and bathrooms for each listing you cohost for?
As the cohost normally you would agree cleaning costs up front with the owner as part of your contract with them @Kim4860
so if you haven't done this you would need to agree whatever rate covers your costs of providing the service that they are happy to cover and is in line with what others charge locally
Thanks Helen. It is a bit of a different situation here on the Estate. We use the Estate staff to clean and do laundry. They have had a weird situation for charging up to now, and I was just trying to find out how other users paid for cleaning and laundry service. Thanks for getting touch.
