Change of use

Change of use

I have been asked by my council for £462 for change of use. Is this standard practice when starting Airb&b?

You haven't said which country you are in @Angela2524

I believe in the UK you may have to pay for planning permission for change of use.

Obviously this is a business expense so you can deduct it as such when you file your taxes.

@Angela2524 Don't worry about it. Once you are business rated you will likely pay no business rates and so save a fortune on council tax. Also there are a myriad of tax advantages (and only 1 disadvantage) of running a furnished holiday let.
