I would use the phrase "What are the pros and cons?"
Pros
You get to choose who you work with
I have said no to some, as they didn't want to commit to the effort/money required to make Hosting a success and had the wrong idea that being a STR Host was "passive income." it's not. Others didn't want to compensate fairly for the tasks they wanted a Co Host to do.
You Can Co Host Remotely
As others have mentioned, depending on your assigned tasks, you can be anywhere as long as you have cell phone or internet access. Of course, some Co Hosts clean and perform maintenance tasks which require you to be present at the property. Others are only responsible for online tasks like creating/maintaining the listing, guest communications and reviews, etc.
Choose Your Own Level of Co Hosting
I have done full time Co Hosting for 2+yrs, but prefer assisting Owners with Listing setup (furniture etc.), Listing creation and intial 3 months or so of Hosting until the listing is off to a good start. This usually is about 3 months until they feel comfortable to continue on their own. I also optimize Listings that aren't performing and help get them back on track if possible.
Look at the cohosting section on the Airbnb Help website to help you understand how it works @Cynthia1539
Hi @Cynthia1539 👋
Airbnb has recently launched it's Co-host Network - have you seen it before? It makes it easy to hire an experienced, local co‑host to take care of your home and guests. 🙌
There’s also this article that might help you: How to find and become an experienced Co-Host on Airbnb?
As well as @Helen3, @Hayley185 , @Joelle43, @Joe771, @Joey28, @Sheri1, @Nathan146, @Ryan4241 and @Joan2709 have experience of being Co-hosts, I'd like to ask if you could share some more information with @Cynthia1539? 😊
I am not sure what you mean @Cynthia1539 when you ask what are the perks of being a cohost .
Obviously if you want to set up a cohosting business you would charge for your services .
Hello @Rebecca
Thank you for the tag but regret to say that I have no experience of being a co-host - it's just "me, myself and I" 😂 Showing my age here I fear and you're much younger than me so you may not get it😉
Oh @Joelle43, I apologise! I think De La Soul had a song called 'Me, myself and I" - am I on the right track? Talking of tracks, I've just posted a very relevant topic: If your listing had a theme song, what would it be? 🎶
What a funny coincidence @Rebecca😁 I'll go have a look at your post but it may be that I have already found my song!
Back in the day, it was sung by Joan Armatrading -a fantastic UK singer and "Me,Myself, I" came out in 1980 but am sure that there have been remakes since those good old days😆
I just had a quick listen @Joelle43 - very 80's! I wasn't too far out though! 😅
The Money and the freedom. I am typing this while on vacation.
One of the best parts about being a co-host is the flexibility—you get to choose the types of activities and support you want to offer other hosts. For example, I’m not interested in the day-to-day management of an Airbnb, but I love helping hosts set up their listings, write compelling descriptions, style their spaces, direct photography, and figure out which policies make the most sense for their property and location. While many hosts are looking for full-service management, that’s not something I’m offering at the moment. The great thing is that, much like the Airbnb platform itself, co-hosting can be customized to fit your goals and preferences at any given time.
Hi @Cynthia1539
I host my own property and also handle co-hosting independently. Unfortunately, the official Co-hosting Network isn’t available in our region yet. The main perks, of course, are the commission you earn from co-hosting and the fun that comes with staging and managing different spaces it’s really satisfying to see everything come together! I think that pretty much sums it up, haha..
Definitely the freedom co-hosting comes with, I am able to travel while I work :))

Hi Cynthia, after many years of Airbnb prodding me to co-host, I finally relented, and I have really been enjoying it! I have a variety of things that I offer (Like Nathan, I will do the set up, design, photos, listing descriptions, etc) but I'm also doing full service property management for really special properties that are very close to my house. Some co-hosts build big businesses with lots of employees-- not my goal-- my goal is to host about 10, all very close to me, so I can hands-on host them the way i host my own properties! But there is wild flexibility as a co-host. The host adds you to the listing, and gives you some or all the responsibility (you can be the primary host so guests see your name as the contact point) or you can be more behind the scenes. And you get paid directly from Airbnb, at a percentage of the nightly rate agreed upon by you and the host.
