Convert long term rental to short term rental

I have a 7 unit lodging house currently occupied by long term renters. I now have a unit vacant and fully renovated and ready to go.

The unit typically rents $900-1000 per month all included. Has private bath and kitchenette but cookstove is shared in another part of the building. Has coin laundry.

I have advertised by FB marketplace but I am getting flooded with agencies and street people desperate for a place to live, generally poor quality references- high risk individuals, often with large pets and addictions and/or mental disorders. It is a nightmare. 

Can I rent UNFURNISHED on Airbnb on a month-to-month basis? I realize there are fees but could be worth the price.
