Covid Vaccination Certificate Requirement

Covid Vaccination Certificate Requirement

We closed our BnB cottage in March 2020 because of Covid. Yesterday we began accepting reservations for June 5 and beyond.

I thought we were being original. Our listing was updated with an opening statement that Covid Vaccination Certificates are required for every guest prior to them being given a key.  In addition to the Airbnb listing, we will include a statement with our response to their reservation request.

I soon discovered that we are not alone with that requirement.

Has anybody else done this? Has Airbnb made a statement about it.

I remain unconvinced that Superhost drives many reservations. We are not Superhosts and never will be because we close our BnB when we are traveling - which is frequent. Yet we are always full when open. It's a nice star on your chest, but I don't think it brings much revenue.

If you are vaccinated why are you afraid of others who are not?

Jamie

Because, if you read the news, people can catch or carry the virus even if they have been vaccinated.

And if you read New Zealand news PM Ardern stayed at home on full pay because she had the 'sniffles' her daughter gave her.

It's winter in New Zealand and quite normal to have the 'sniffles'.

As an aside, what has happened to Glaxo, now called GSK and controlled by some based in USA, which used to nourish babies and people in a healthy manner?

There's some very serious explaining to do by those controlling the show

Malt also used to be used to keep healthy

Ok so why require  a vaccine that doesn't work?

Jamie

It does work. Very well.

If you feel so strongly about it then cancel them and take the consequence from Airbnb.  You always have a choice.  BTW did this nurse and her fiancé infect you?

Jamie

I chatted with Airbnb help desk yesterday. They do not have any policy against us posting a vaccination requirement.

Thank you. I think I am going to do it. The Delta variant is very scary.

Covid killed 10x more Americans than 17 years of war in Viet Nam.   I require that guests in my home send a picture of their Covid vaccine card after approving them.  Thisnis my first day requiring it and already two groups have questioned me or inquired and then cancelled.  One called the card a vaccine passport so I guess that’s the latest rhetoric.   I’ve been getting vaccines my whole life as have most of us.  However, Covid is a partisan issue because it came AFTER social media and ‘for-profit’ news made people addicted to trying to anger anyone on “the other side” of absolutely any topic.  Besides quitting all social media and commercial news to increase your immunity to fear, anxiety, and hate, I recommend getting vaccinated against :

Hepatitis B

Polio

Rotavirus

Hib

Measles’s,mumps,rubella

Hepatitis A

Covid-19

flu every year (kills millions)

Shingles (I get my 2nd shot in a week. De-lish!)

Whooping Cough

Tetanus, diphtheria

HPV

Menengitis

Pneumonia

Chicken pox (mmmm, chi-cken)

and a couple others I got in the military I don’t remember the names of.

@Joe527  Thank you for telling us this. I have added the requirement to the house rules, stating I reserve the right to request proof.

Where on your listing do you have the requirement? Do you allow instant book and then request the proof?

Thank you!

@Joe527 Currently I have it in my house rules with the added statement “I reserve the right to request proof of vaccination by all parties.”

I also sent direct feedback to Airbnb asking them to put this an optional criteria (including proof) for both the host and the guest. I am finding many guests want it, also. I think this would be very helpful and the more of us send in this feedback the more likely it will happen.

So according to your logic, you should require proof of vaccination for all the diseases you listed.

Jamie

Have you traveled much? Many countries have vaccination requirements for diseases other than Covid. They do not permit entry without proof of vaccinations. Travelers must contact embassies to determine what vaccinations are required. This is nothing new.Certificate.jpg

Yes, I too am intending on adding Proof of a Covid Vaccination to my check in.  I'm deciding where on my Airbnb site I'd like to add this.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I'm also considering asking the guest to send me a copy of their proof ahead of time.
