Hello - i am trying to apply to the Comune to register my property for Airbnb services. It asks for a "firma elettronica avanzata" for me to sign a few documents. The digital signature providers offer a "firma digitale remota". When I google there seems to be a difference between the two yet the signature providers do no offer the "firma elettronica avanzata" option, only the firma digitale (remota). So i am confused on what should i get i.e. are they the same, or does the firma digitale remota include/substitute the elettronica avanzata one?
Lastly, it appears that you can get a digital signature is you have italian documents (passport, ID or driving license) - this is what Aruba customer service told me. It doesnt make sense as their website states that foreigners can get one too. Anyone (especially EU citizens as I am one) managed to get a digital signature via any of the signature providers?
Thank you
Hello @Nicoleta47, thank you so much for reaching out to our host community for advice 😊
I’m tagging two of our most experienced hosts from Italy here, in case they’d like to share some insights: @Andrea6232 and @Angela105.
Regards,
Ciao @Nicoleta47 and @Paula ,
unfortunately I can't help you, the bureaucracy in Italy is terrible, what I can suggest is to contact a consultant, perhaps an accountant, who can do the paperwork on your behalf
sorry for not beeing of help
Andrea
Ciao @Nicoleta47 ,
the “Firma Elettronica Avanzata” is an authentication of your identity certified by an Italian provider (like Aruba, Poste, Telecom ecc) but you need to have an Italian ID. With a residency in Italy or at least if you were born in Italy and you have an Italian tax number you can apply for an Italian ID.
Types of “Firma elettronica avanzata” (FEA) are SPID (sistema pubblico di identità digitale), CIE (Carta identità elettronica italiana), CNS (Carta nazionale dei servizi), all related to your Italian ID.
As I answered you in another post, as an EU citizen (but UK is not more EU) you can apply for a FEQ in administrations enabled with the EIDAS.
The identification of this signatory is carried out by a certifier recognized by AglD (Agenzia per l’Italia digitale) and this makes the signature valid in any context, like with the FEA. The obligation to accept this signature is sanctioned at the European level from the regulation ElDAS.
Once you have entered the public administration (municipalities, regional website, police department to register your property for tourist rental) in Italy with you FEA (or FEQ) you are requested to sign several documents on their websites with your “Firma digitale remota” (this means it is a Firma Elettronica Semplice FES) which you can obtain for a fee by a provider like Aruba ecc.
Hi Angela! thank you so much for your reply. Apologies for the delay.
It is exactly the last bit in your message that i have issues with: the fact that i can obtain a firma digitale remota from guys like Aruba. It seems that i cannot use them if i don't have an italian ID (passport, DL, ID card) - it is what they told me over the phone.
I have a european ID/passport which allows me to enter the public admin to register my property. But when i get to the point of signing those docs they request (and they ask i sign them with a digital signature) - i get stuck.
Aruba's website says that i technically could use my codice fiscale (and here they ask either the tessera sanitaria or a certificato di attribuzione) and my european passport. But when i call them to confirm that (before paying the fee in vain) - they say i cannot unless i provide italian IDs (which i dont have).
how did you get your fima digitale?
Ciao @Nicoleta47 , yes, unfortunately you can’t get your digital signature in Italy if you don’t have an Italian ID.
There is some possibility to get residency in Italy and then apply for an Italian ID if you are the owner of a property in Italy. You could ask the Municipality where your property is located for information and advice.
Otherwise give a mandate to an Agency or Property Managers in Italy who can carry out the formalities for you.
I have no difficulty obtaining my digital signature because I have both a German and an Italian ID. I obtained my Italian identity through marriage.
Thank you for confirming. It's such a bureaucratic pain...
