Do I need to follow government regulations for hosting in Bangalore, India? If so, what are they?

I have a 1bhk apartment, which i am planning to host. Do I need to register this to tourism of Karnataka?

You would need to check with your local government to see if there are STR regulations @Hemant59

Hi @Hemant59  😊

Thank you so much for asking this question here!

Did you check the local government site, as suggested by Helen?

Another option would be to discuss this with local hosts from your area through our 👉 Local Host Clubs.

I'm also sharing this article about 👉Responsible hosting in India.

I'm tagging few hosts from India if they know something related about it: @Bharathi3@Ashwin53@Michael8120@Team139@Manali3@Peace-Stays0 and @Abrar9.

Thank you in advance everyone.

Let us know how it goes!

Warm regards 🌻,

Hi Hemant, you'll need to check directly with your local government or the Tourism Department of Karnataka to confirm what regulations apply. In many areas, short-term rentals must be registered or at least declared for tax and safety purposes, but requirements can vary by city and even by neighborhood. It's best to contact your local municipal office or tourism authority in Bangalore to ensure you're fully compliant before listing your property.
