We are looking into insurance options for a Class A RV that we'll be using as a stationary rental (we're in a highly lucrative spot for AirBnB). It will be parked as rental most of the year, but occasionally, we'll be driving the RV for summer trips etc.
Here's the breakdown of what we've found so far: We can find RV insurance that will cover the RV while we are personally using it, but as SOON as we have short-term renters in it (even stationary renters) most carriers remove all liability coverage (if a renter should happen to get hurt) and all comprehensive coverage (if a tree should happen to fall on the unit, wind/hail etc).
We could choose to rent using ONLY RV rental sites (Outdoorsy / RVshare / RVezy), and those sites solve this insurance problem by having each renter purchase their own RV insurance policy just for the rental period but... it's really expensive because the sites don't distinguish between stationary rentals and renting out the entire RV (for driving across the US etc). More importantly, we REALLY like the AirBnB platform and are trying to find a way to get our stationary RV rented through that while still having insurance.
So bottom line question: is there a stand-alone RV insurance (ANY including commercial policies) that would allow us to do short-term rental. That would enable us to use the actual AirBnB platform rather than just RV-sharing sites. I'd also appreciate recommendations for any insurance brokers or agencies who specialize in RV insurance even if it's just to get advice or various options.
Thanks in advance!
Hi @Nathan3168 , Have you managed to get some information elsewhere about this since the time you posted?
Not really... we're having trouble figuring out an RV insurance solution for AirBnB (comp and liability) and may be forced to use other sharing platforms for our rental unfortunately.
Bhumika, I see you are a community Manager.
Can you provide information on how, or if, AirBnB covers RV rentals while the renters are using them?
Any updated information you've learned Nathan? We are in the same situation wanting to rent out our Airstream parked on our vacant land.
Roamly will insure RVs for when you are using them and does not have an issue with them being used as rentals. They DO NOT cover the vehicle while it is being rented, that is the insurance package that the rental site arranges.
I cannot attest with certainty for all rental sites and am trying to find out how, or if, AirBnB insures the RV while it is being rented.

I can confirm that RVezy has commercial insurance that covers the gap between my personal insurance (Roamly) and when the renters insurance while I am delivering the RV to the renter.
Were you able to find an insurance carrier for your needs? I am building a tiny home RV and found several insurers that provide coverage for short term rentals. Lloyds of London, Foremost and MAC for example.
Hi @Diane218 —there are a number of insurers for short term rentals for rv trailers and tiny homes… the challenge I found was for actual class a rvs (not trailers). There are insurers but they charge for renting the entire rv as a drivable unit (not just renting on property as a residence) so very expensive to insure per night.
Thanks for the message and hope that clarifies.
