HELP: Inappropriate Guest **Explicit Content**

I need some help from seasoned hosts. I (female) had a (male) guest that made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and now has left me a review that might lead people to believe I am discriminatory. Sorry ahead of time, there will be inappropriate content below***

Cliff Notes: Single female hosting in-house open room. Male guests became inappropriate and sexually suggestive. I had to call a friend over for the weekend to feel safe.

The guest and I had a warm welcome like any guest, friendly and open. I even offered to share a beer, which I do with most guests if they feel like connecting. This guest took the conversation to a very inappropriate place, offering to show me his cheating wifes porn, I declined and created space and told him I wasn't comfortable with that conversation. It kept going where he shared his porn addiction. He then shared he selected my home because he liked my photo and picked my place because of me. I called a friend immediately to come over and stay with me. Excused myself, and went to bed with a locked door, my friend showed up an hour later and stayed for the guests whole reservation. I received after-hours messages where he asked if he could take a shower and if the noise would bother me, I said no go right ahead, and then said goodnight. He then responded with a comment about what he likes to do with his tongue. "I was going to say something cra to you but I stopped.. lol I like to do this thing with my 😛😜 Don't judge me lol 😅😂😆😂🤣" Then another message asking "if I had a girl over?". Then another message saying he's "leaving at midnight and will be back by 2 am." I ignored all messages. I wish I could add screenshots of the poor review and the direct message (which I reported.) The next day in the morning, with my friend over, he tried to hug me to which I backed away immediately and left. His review states that my "energy changed" and I was displaying prejudice based on his beliefs.

**The sign on my door he is referring to is a door knocker that was there when I bought the house and it says "no religion and no soliciting." I plan to paint over it immediately now that I know it bothers guests. The only reason it is still there as it would damage the door significantly if I removed it. Taking action to simply patch paint over it ASAP

What do I do? How do I get rid of this inaccurate review? I did not display prejudice and did not discriminate based on race, religion, or sexuality. I simply was not responding to his highly inappropriate advances. I also feel like this man is predatory and would never recommend a female host to accept his reservation.

@Amanda1749   I am so sorry that you had this experience.  As a host, I would have advised you to request that the guest leave immediately after being asked to view his wife's porn.  No one needs to be subjected to that.

As to his review, it is a wandering crazy read and I did not feel that it reflected on you as much as on the guest.  His use of the term "roaming" about your home bothered me, but he did not specifically write what the sign on the door said.  The fact that you say the sign is to discourage all kinds of solicitors is very reasonable and many of us would put up such a sign if the location required it -- a remote cabin would not, but a house in a walkable neighborhood might.

Report the guest to AirBnB.  Follow whatever steps there are so that this guest is not allowed to book with you again.  In your review, you do not need to say anything other than the guest made you uncomfortable and that you do not recommend him as a home share guest.

@Amanda1749 I see the review has gone so I guess you were successful following @Lorna170 s advice. Well done!

What an awful experience. I am confused as to why you didn't ask Airbnb to cancel the booking when he first became in appropriate rather than letting his stay continue

hopefully you reported his behaviour to airbnb at the time so there is a record @Amanda1749

i would ask Airbnb to remove the review . It's a shame your review was not more direct to help warn your fellow female homeshare hosts

Hello @Helen3 @Mike-And-Jane0

Amanda's post dates back to more than 2 years ago but figure it came back on the CC due to a weird comment left below by a certain Alecsandr??  What's that about??

Hope the sun is out in the UK?!

@Joelle43 I hate it when that happens! Interestingly the sun is out in the UK as it was during the Olympic opening ceremony. Most unusual for the UK to have better weather than France (even for one day).

@Mike-And-Jane0 Glad you're seeing a bit of sun but not all of France is experiencing bad weather as here in Cannes we've had an amazing July and we're experiencing a heatwave and clear blue skies for the next two weeks at least😉  Do I sound like I'm plugging my region?🤣!!

Enjoy your Sunday basking in the sun👙😎

Ah thanks @Joelle43  not sure why admins don't lock older posts to stop spammers resurrecting them

@Helen3 It all went wrong for me when the date against the post became the last poster's date rather than the original date of the thread.
