Homeowner contract with Host

Homeowner contract with Host

Property owners should be aware of the potential risks associated with contracting with a host for their property on Airbnb. As a property owner, I had a horrible experience with a company I contracted to help me host on Airbnb. Payment was always late and when I ended the contract, I found out a few months later that a mechanic lien of $6100 had been filed against my property because the company hadn't paid the cleaner. When I asked Airbnb for help, they didn't do anything and only suggested I consult a lawyer. It is unclear if Airbnb does any background checks before accepting new hosts.

Sorry not clear from your post . Do you mean you employed an STR management company to manage your STR property @Huey8

If that's the case any issues are between you and the company you employed to manage your STR business

yes airbnb does basic ID checks on those hosting on Airbnb

Did you check the reviews of this company on Airbnb? Did you check reviews of the company online?  Did you ask for references from hosts using their services ?

sounds like you need to take them to court

@Huey8 Airbnb rightly have no responsibility for any contracts between you and your tenant/management company. It is your responsibility to have a clear contract with tenants/management companies and your experience suggests that, as many landlords know, sub leases should not be allowed in the contract.
