What do you do to make sure your homes are in good hands while we soak up the sun? Do you have a go-to co-host, use automated messaging, or perhaps offer special discounts for guests who can accommodate your schedule?
Share your insights and experiences below! Whether you're an experienced host or just starting out, your ideas could really help someone else. 😊
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Rebecca

Great question Rebecca!
It really depends on how much work you normally do on your airbnb. For our airbnb, it is in a different state so I am not physically there anyways. I have my co-host handle all the cleanings & maintenance and they are very reliable & trustworthy. I think to have a trust worthy team is the key.
I manage all the guest communications so I take my laptop and cell phone with me when I vacation anyways. It really has not cause any issues and I can still enjoy my vacation time with family. I usually make sure I have at least wifi connection available wherever I'm going.
Best wishes!

Great question! This is something I’ve had to figure out over time. When I’m away on holiday, I use a combination of strategies to ensure everything runs smoothly:
Reliable CoHost: I have a trusted co-host who knows my property inside out. They handle check-ins, guest questions, and any on-the-ground issues while I’m away. It gives me huge peace of mind.
Automated Messaging: I set up automated responses for booking confirmations, check-in instructions, and FAQs. It keeps communication flowing, even if I’m relaxing by the beach.
Clear House Rules & Guidebook: I make sure my digital guidebook is detailed so guests can find everything they need without having to reach out.
Calendar Management: If I have longer travel plans, I might block off certain days or offer a small discount for guests who are okay with more independent stays, especially if I can’t offer as much personal attention.

@Rebecca we just set the calendar to ensure there were no check ins or outs during our holiday times. That way there was still the chance of a booking.

Dear Rebecca

Dear Rebecca
To be successful as a host on Airbnb and other short-term rental platforms, in addition to the hosting service you provide to your guests and the care of your property, you also need to do all the extra work of promoting your accommodation. If you love what you do then it is not difficult to succeed.

Depending where I am going:
- Block my calendar, so I have no one staying and bothering me
- Just do the best to answer questions while I'm on vacation
Hope this helps
