I just signed up to list a (USA) cabin. However, I cannot get the tax info to work. The cabin is owned by an LLC/Partnership with 4 partners - I am not a partner, but want to set it up and help manage it for them. I entered the exact tax EIN/info from their W-9, but am told that it fails IRS validation (with no other info on what the problem was). I called Airbnb help, and they told me to verify and resubmit it, which I did with the same result.
I noticed in the remaining account setup that there is a place to list Beneficial Owners, and I tried to do that, but I am listed as being one (which I am not) and there seems to be no way to remove me to add the others...
Does anyone have an idea how to do remove me as a Beneficial Owner, or what Airbnb/the IRS is looking for to be able to verify?
Thanks
Hello @Kevin3619,
Thank you for reaching out to our host community for their suggestions!
I wanted to tag our experienced host @Joan2709 here, who could shed some light on this.
Best regards,
Not sure on this one...
Here is my guess (you'll have to clarify with Airbnb)...I believe you should be setup as a Co Host not as an owner. The primary owner's LLC name, tax ID and beneficial owners should be listed on the profile. Once that is established and the listing created, then you can be invited as a Co Host on the listing. You would need your own profile (separate from the LLC) and Tax ID/SSN on your own profile.
Hello,
Running into the same problem, I submitted my new EIN twice and its still showing that it failed. Did you get this resolved?
I submitted it a third time but put my LLC name in all caps and it accepted it. Thanks! @Helen3
